Half Day Walking Tour in Ria Formosa Nature Park

We went with our 7 and 10-year-old children, the guide was very attentive to the children, adapting the explanations and with a great deal of knowledge. He speaks Spanish very well and translates the names of the flora and fauna. He adapted wonderfully to our pace, we made several stops to rest. He lent us binoculars and showed us the details of the birds with his telescope. FABULOUS

Very interesting tour. Luis knows the Ria Formosa environment and its history very well and introduces the plants (even in summer!) and animals of the natural park.

Our time walking around Ria Formosa was superb, we saw lots! Our guide was very knowledgeable about not just nature but the history and geology of the region. He made sure to point out things for us to see using a telescope, and even walked us around an exhibit to give details about the habitats of Ria Formosa. Great value for money, as we got picked up and dropped off from our hotel, and as we were the only ones on the tour, we got a very personalised experience. Would highly recommend for anyone interested in the nature of the Algarve while being respectful and minimally disruptive, unlike other tours can be!

Our guide, Luis, was phenomenal. He was friendly, organized, and helpful and his knowledge was truly impressive. We focused on environments, birds and plants and saw many, many species. Luis fostered a good vibe among our group of six and helped every one of us see beautiful and interesting birds through his telescope and our binoculars (loan of binoculars included in price). An altogether wonderful few hours. I recommend most highly.

We really enjoyed our excellent tour around the Ria formosa Natural Park last week. Luis picked us up at the arranged time and guided us expertly around, enthusiastically explaining about the landscape and identifying the flora and birds along the way. We used the binoculars he provided to observe the bird life. His passion and commitment to his home environment is obvious. We enjoyed his company and would highly recommend his tours.

I booked a guided bird watching in the Rio de Formosa. Luís taught me to use binoculars. His expertise and bird knowledge is very fascinating. We were able to see so many birds, which excited me a lot and even though the weather was rather bad. I really liked the tour and was one of the best moments for me in Portugal. Thank you Luís!

Lus was great at communicating before the walk and kindly came and collected us from our apartment. He is a lovely guide and is absolutely passionate about the natural world and especially about the local flora and fauna. At first, we were not able to spot birds that Lus was pointing out (we’ve experienced this before) but our eyes and senses quickly became used to doing so and we were able to see a big range of birds and plants. Lus was incredibly knowledgeable and made the whole time a joy. It was great value for money and we would recommend the walk to anyone.

We did a half day birding tour with Luis in the Rio Formosa area west of Faro. We are not big-time birders, but we do enjoy it and it's a great chance to get out and see the area. Luis picked us up on time and drove us to the area of the tour. It was just myself and my wife, so the tour was private. Luis is an excellent guide and bird spotter and very informed about the area and he provided us with binoculars and had a great scope of his own. We saw a LOT of birds that were new to us, even though we've visited the Algarve area many times. The tour was great value for the price. This walk was easily doable by anyone reasonably fit. We would highly recommend this tour.
