We will meet at the location of your choice and we will embark on this wonderful journey outside the city with our own air-conditioned private transportation. Enjoy the views and 45 minutes guided tour about Montserrat’s Basilica and Monastery, home of La Moreneta (Black Madonna). Unlike other tours, we offer early access to visit the monastery before the crowds arrive. Make the most of your free time to enter the museum, taste the monastery’s homemade liquor, go for an easy walk to the Saint Miguel cross, take the Sant Joan Funicular and appreciate the breathtaking views of Montserrat. The tour concludes with a trip back to your accommodation in Barcelona

Itinerary
Montserrat is a mountain top monastery situated on top of an unusual rock mountain. It is the highest point of the Catalan lowlands. Montserrat monastery hosts “la Moreneta”, also called Black Madonna. The legend says that the benedictine monks found the statue, and they could not move the statue to build their monastery, so they decided to construct it around the statue. Montserrat was designated as a National Park in 1987. Nowadays, it is a site of pilgrimage of people around the world. Once in Montserrat, enjoy 45 minutes guided tour, and then you will have 2 hours to explore. You can visit la Moreneta, enter the Museum, taste the monastery’s homemade liquor, go for an easy walk.
The origin of the monastery is uncertain, but it is believed that the Virgin of Monsterrat (la Moreneta) was found around 880. According to the legends, the monks build the monastery around the statue. The monastery still functions to this day with over 70 monks. The basilica of Montserrat began its construction in the 16th century and now houses an art museum. It is also the place where la Escolania, one of the oldest Boys’ Choir in Europe, performs during religious ceremonies.
In your free time, you can visit the Montserrat Museum, which hosts six permanent art collections and two temporary ones. You will find pieces from famous artists such as Picasso, Dalí, Caravaggio, and also unknown but talented artists.
In your free time, take the funicular and enjoy the panoramic view of the mountain. The funicular offers a view of the monastery as well as breathtaking views from the Pyrenees. At the top, you can also visit Aula de Natura (Nature Centre), where you will learn about the history, flora, and fauna of the mountain.

Aaron was fantastic! He made the whole trip so easy and hands off. When my four year-old got tired on the long walk, he offered to carry her on his shoulders for a bit. He even stopped in the gift shop to read her a story while I purchased my items. He was so kind and knowledgeable. This was a great tour for adults and for kids! We learned a lot and saw everything in a great amount of time. I’m so glad we booked and I would definitely book him again!

Vincenzo was an excellent guide. His knowledge of Catalonia and Monserrat is extensive. The tour included a driver and Vincenzo both of which were excellent. My son had a broken foot with limited mobility and both Vincenzo and the driver were very helpful. Montserrat is a very special place. Do not miss it if you are in Barcelona. I highly recommend this tour and highly recommend Vincenzo.

This was a wonderful tour with a comfortable bus and 3 very knowledgeable guides. Our main guide was Francesco who was just as charming as could be. Only downside was the cloudiness, but it was still worth the trip.

We had a private tour for a half day - it was great to have a pick up at the apartment. The driver and tour guide were great. We were able to park right near the restaurant and Monestary.
