During the early colonization of Madeira in the 15th century, Quinta Grande played a role in the cultivation and production of goods such as sugarcane, vineyards, and cereals. These agricultural products contributed to the economic prosperity of the island at that time. Beautiful impressions of Madeira... Thanks to Lino

It was an interesting afternoon that showed us many beautiful areas of Madeira. Our tour guide and driver, Lino, provided us with a lot of information in a very friendly manner and drove the jeep very well. Addendum: I forgot a souvenir in the car and hadn't missed it at all... Thanks to Lino, I was able to find it again at the reception.

Perfect Tour

We were collected by Jorge in a Green Devil Discovery. We saw some of the island as we drove to our destination. Jorge gave us a detailed insite into what the island grows best and when the roads & tunnels were built and how big each town is. Stopping for a look at the tallest cliff face above the sea. Then a small cave & river with a coffee stop. Then arriving at our Winery. We were given the tour by Helener / Eleainor who spoke excellent English. We tasted the wines and Jorge returned us to our hotel in Cancal. The weather isn’t very nice in the mornings so we didn’t miss the glorious sunshine as we weee back just after lunch. Excellent tour. Would thoroughly recommend.

Winery Trip

Great scenery on the trip and at the winery itself. We were given several samples to taste but the wine was only average

Operator response

Hello, I'm glad you had a great day with our guide, but about the wine is not production of Green Devil Safari. It is unfair to receive a less favorable rating when you mentioned that you loved the guide and the landscapes. They are sourced from Quinta do Barbusano, and your evaluation should be directed towards them.

Not as advertised, underwhelming

The trip did not start off well with us being picked up an hour late and this was certainly not a "breathtaking jeep tour" but rather just a trip on the regular highway straight to the vineyard which was the only positive thing about this trip (great staff, great wines). After the wine tasting was over we only got to visit one of the five stops as advertised for the trip Cabo Girao. This stop was underwhelming due to the fact it was getting dark and could not be fully enjoyed.

Operator response

You were informed that the guide would arrive late due to a traffic accident on the highway, and unfortunately, there was nothing we could do to alter that situation. However, please note that the four-hour tour was completed as scheduled, and the guide visited all the sites included in the itinerary. The five locations mentioned are simply areas through which the tour passes; they were never designated as mandatory stopping points but rather as pass-through zones, and that is where your group traveled through.

Great trip but not for the faint hearted!

This was a great trip but not for the faint hearted!! The off-road driving was fun but very bumpy and some of the on-road driving was pretty hair-raising too!! Having said that, we saw some lovely viewpoints and had the chance to stand up in the back of the jeep off-road. I enjoyed the wine tasting. We got to sample 6 wines (3 white, one rosé and two reds) and could refill our favourites. We had just the right amount of time there.

Jeep tour with wine tasting - good way to see different areas of Madeira in half a day.

Good way to see island if you have limited time. Winery was in beautiful setting, really enjoyed all the wines and nibbles. The lady who did our tour was really interesting and informative. Enjoyed the first stop at glass floor viewpoint which was very reasonable entrance fee. Jeep vehicle gives great views but is a bit bumpy. We were fine but less mobile visitors may prefer to sit inside rather than the back seats. Bruno helped us in and out of the vehicle at every stop. The other stops were more brief but if you want a taste of Madeira on a short trip it gives a good flavour. Lots more to explore!

Great Experience

The visit to the vineyard was very informative and interesting. We were shown around the vineyard and given lots of information on the varieties of grape and why they were grown in different locations. There were plenty of wines to sample with a detailed explanation of each, plus the views were stunning during the tasting. George our guide was great, very knowledgeable and friendly and we never felt rushed. The whole trip was fun and relaxed.
