Description

A day tour of Soweto township offers you the chance to experience the heart and soul of a busy city within a city. Learn the history culture and the vibrant lifestyle of Soweto. Soweto was created in the 1930s, with Orlando the first township established. In the 1950s, more black people were relocated there from black spots in the inner city- black neighbourhoods which the apartheid government had reserved for whites. Soweto's growth was phenomenal - but unplanned.

2-3 hours by bike in Soweto with different stops!

Superb experience and discovery with Nkuli Tours! Thanks for everything! I recommend without hesitation! Tabisi, our guide, accompanied us in Soweto by bike to help us discover the Township. We went through some very interesting areas that clearly show the real situation in Soweto, with its pros and cons. Tabisi, a Soweto resident, knows the history, how things work, and the neighborhood like the back of his hand: it really helps you understand the Soweto mindset. Thanks for everything and hope to see you soon!

I felt angry about how shameless

The host made several attempts to flirt with my partner, which made her feel quite uncomfortable. I felt angry about how shameless and offensive the tour guide was. The tour itself was not outstanding, but OK.

Misleading Advertising The tour didn’t match the description on their website. We were promised a detailed and engaging tour, but what we got was a generic and boring experience. I felt misled and very dissatisfied.

Please know - these guys waited until

Please know - these guys waited until 10PM the night before our morning tour and cancelled it, saying the guide was sick. More notice would have given us a chance of booking with someone else. A better run company would have had a deeper bench of guides. If your plans are made well in advance, like us - look to a more reliable company. I’m sure they’ll respond with a lame apology and excuse, but it won’t help my family.

Walking Tour Soweto with Nkuli Tours - local guide

Amazing informative walking tour round Soweto townships and key sights with Nkuli Tours - highly recommended. Uber dropped at meeting point - guide waiting for us - so knowledgeable, welcoming and professional; Tour ended at Nelson Mandela’s house and Hector Pieterson museum. A highlight was seeing the community centre. Greater understanding of so many issues. Thank you so much Nkuli Tours.
