Half-Day Dhow Sailing Tour to Tumbatu Island with snorkeling
Description
We are a family-run business providing a high-end sailing experience on traditional Dhow sailing boats. We are proudly Tanzanian-made with a focus on sustainability. Our trip starts in the morning from Kendwa beach, sailing out and straight over the sea ahead of us towards the neighbouring island of Tumbatu. Given proximity we will have a short transfer over and reach Tumbatu after around 45 min. We will anchor in a tranquil spot for you to take your first jump into the water to enjoy some swimming and snorkelling. During that time our team will prepare a variety of snacks and fruit for you to enjoy afterwards. You can lounge on deck, enjoy the views together with some cool drinks. We will then continue our journey towards a second snorkel nearby, which offers again possibility for swimming and snorkeling. Tumbatu is well known for being less frequented by tourists and a peaceful environment with a wonderful reef. We will start our sail back to Kendwa shortlz before lunch.

Itinerary
You will be able to swim and snorkel at the Reef in front of Tumbatu Island. We have several beautiful spots where we can anchor the boat and you can explore the underwater world. Since Tumbatu is less frequented then other places around Zanzibar, you will find this to be really peaceful place with hardly any other touristic boats. We will also have a break for some lounging and relaxation on the boat and for you to enjoy some drinks, snacks and soak up the beautiful nature around you.

This was such a beautiful and relaxing experience, we did not want it to end. The staff was so kind and made us feel like we were the captains of the ship. We had 4 adults and 4 teen/tweens and everyone loved it. The ship was so comfortable and the scenery was a dream. There was enough space for everyone to have a spot to lounge and even lie down. The fruit and snack provided we fresh and perfect for the trips. Everyone fought over the cookies and we were thankful they kept some packaging so we were able to check for allergies for my son who has nut allergies. The water was clear and beautiful, but watch out. If you feel stinging/a bite like pinch turns out its the larvae from stingy (urchin/jellyfish). The crew tried to tell us but we didn't understand. Ask them to stop somewhere that doesn't have sea urchins. You can actually see them at the bottom. The crew had supplies for snorkling and even a floatie. It was one of the best experiences and I definitely recommend this cruise.

The crew of two are extremely nice, friendly, and accommodating. There are snacks and drinks, and they rig up a sunroof while you are sitting at the snorkeling spot. It’s lovely and uncrowded. You need to jump off the boat to snorkel — no beach. First time snorkeling for my husband, so he was nervous, but the crew was very helpful, and he ended up loving it.

While the weather was cloudy the guys made sure we had a nice and relaxing sail and snorkel. They probably need a few more sets of snorkel equipment as two snorkels didn’t work but we made due. The snacks and drinks were fresh and a lovely touch. The sail was smooth and the boat very comfortable. A lovely day on the water while in Zanzibar! And they picked us up and dropped us off! Bonus!

We had an excellent day; everything went perfectly from start to finish. The guides were very attentive and always ready to listen. They had provided fresh fruit, coconuts, snacks, as well as several drink choices, which was very appreciated. The atmosphere on board was excellent, with music that made the outing even more pleasant. We also had the chance to spend time on a magnificent sandbar where we were almost alone, a truly exceptional moment. I recommend this excursion without hesitation. A professional, welcoming team that cares about ensuring its clients have a great time!

This turned out to be a wonderful half day. The boat was super comfortable plenty of places to sit in the shade or out of the shade you want they had nice cushions on the seat so you weren’t stuck on a hard bench. The staff was amazing, super friendly very attentive. We got lots of snacks and drinks. What was really nice about this boat is that you could sail back in which is extraordinarily relaxing. This specific tour snorkeling, location is definitely less crowded than the other island - which was definitely worth it! The owner was friendly and very easy to communicate with. I highly recommend booking this trip versus trying to go cheaper on one of the smaller boats.

My husband and I recently did a half day tour with Zanzibar Dhow to Tumbatu Island for some snorkeling and it was awesome! The captain and guides were great - warm, friendly, and knowledgeable! They found some great snorkeling spots, had snacks and fresh fruit for us, and were super fun to hangout with! The whole boat was a vibe!! Highly recommend!
