Capri is a lot of things, hilly, touristic, expensive (compared to other nearby islands) and disorganised. It is also a beautiful island full of charm. We went outside of peak season and it was crowded. Queues for the funincular were neverending and people were pushing and elbowing people out of the way to get up to the chair lift which was then only accessed if you are trying the cheapest conventional way by an additional bus ride to the top (Anacapri). The queuing process for both took up hours of time and this is off peak and in the heat it is no joke. Do yourself a favour and negotiate a price beforehand to avoid getting ripped off and share a taxi direct with others it will save a lot of time and stress and won't cost much more. You can then enjoy the chair lift which was lovely with views to die for and the beauty of the island!!
Hello Lisa, you are right, unfortunately Capri is overcrowded in some periods but this was a review for a tour of the island by boat. We hope at least that while on the tour you had a nice time as you had on the monte solaro chairlift :)
