Grand Cayman Bioluminescent Bay and Starfish Point Tour

Description
Experience two of Grand Cayman’s most beautiful natural moments in one evening — a Caribbean sunset from the water, followed by the glowing waters of Bioluminescent Bay. Begin at Starfish Point, perfectly timed for sunset. Wade through warm, shallow Caribbean water among colorful cushion sea stars as the sun goes down. Your guides will introduce you to unusual marine life found here, including upside-down jellyfish. Then, as the Caribbean turns dark, continue by boat to Bio Bay for the highlight of the night. Millions of microscopic organisms illuminate the water with flashes of light as it moves, a phenomenon found in only a handful of places around the world. Watch the bioluminescence appear around the boat, or take it one step further and slip into the water to see the glow respond to your movement. After an evening on the water, enjoy the boat ride back — an easy ending to a night that takes you from Caribbean sunset to glowing waters after dark.

Itinerary
Begin your evening with pickup from participating accommodations in the Seven Mile Beach area. The boat generally departs Raleigh Quay at 6:30 PM during summer and 6:00 PM during winter, with hotel pickups scheduled earlier. After leaving Raleigh Quay, stop at Kaibo Dock, the alternative meeting point for guests staying outside the Georgetown and Seven Mile Beach area. From there, continue to Starfish Point around sunset. Step into the warm, shallow water and look for colorful cushion sea stars and seashells resting along the sandy bottom. Your guides will introduce you to the marine life found here, including the unusual upside-down jellyfish. You’ll have perfect timing to enjoy the Caribbean sunset from the water before continuing to Bio Bay. As it gets dark, return to the boat and head toward Cayman’s Bioluminescent Bay, where the lower light conditions allow the natural glow to become visible.
Once darkness settles in, arrive at the Bioluminescent Bay near Cayman Kai, where millions of microscopic organisms create flashes of light as the water moves. Spend most of your boat tour here while your guides explain what causes the bioluminescence and why this particular bay provides the conditions for the phenomenon to occur. Watch the glow appear around the boat as the water is disturbed, creating a completely different view of Grand Cayman after dark. You can enjoy the bioluminescence from the boat or choose to swim in the bay, where movement through the water makes the glow visible around you. Swimming is optional. After your time at Bio Bay, return by boat via Kaibo Dock and Raleigh Quay Private Dock. Guests using the shuttle service will then be transported back to participating accommodations in the Seven Mile Beach area. Total duration: approximately 3 hours, including transportation. The boat tour itself lasts approximately 2 hours.

Excellent and knowledgeable staff! The whole crew made the trip fully enjoyable and had enough knowledge to enhance the experience. The hotel pickup and transport driver were also great. Highly recommended
Captain Sugar Bear made us feel right at home. It’s clear this crew knows what they’re doing. Captain and First Mate Alex taught us about the sea life at night in a fun and interesting way. Our first stop was at Starfish point where we got to hold beautiful red starfish and touch a jellyfish! Sugar Bear and Alex were careful to make sure we understood how these animals interact with their environment and how to safely handle them. Next we hopped over to bioluminescence bay, which was amazing! You could see the glow behind the boat as it trolled into the bay. Once stopped we all hopped in and swam. Marcella was amazing, making sure everyone got photos. 10/10 tour!
These thieves agreed to pick us up at our Condo which Viator CONFIRMED! They did not pick us up. Instead they stole over $300, and refused to refund. That has cost Viator our future business, and likely legal action. DO NOT USE THIS PROVIDER. Viator should cancel relationships with them.
Hi Scott_W, We’re sorry this experience did not meet your expectations. As stated in the tour description, pick-up service is only available within the Seven Mile Beach corridor. Since your condo was outside this area, we sent you the closest meeting point and instructions beforehand. We did not receive confirmation from you, and on the day of the tour you were unfortunately marked as a no-show. For transparency, our policy notes that no-shows and late arrivals are non-refundable. We always aim to provide clear communication and a respectful service, and we kindly ask that the same courtesy is extended to our team. We truly hope to welcome you another time to experience the magic of the Bioluminescent Bay in Grand Cayman. The Caribbean Cruise Tours Team

Such a cool experience looked like glitter under the water. They provide suits so you don't get stung. They give you noodles to help you float because they don't want your feet touching the ground because there's little jellyfish down there. The water is shallow about 4 or 5 ft
