Experience an indulgent and diverse full day tour showcasing the very best sights and tastes from the Central Otago region. Let your experienced wine guide lead you on a tasting journey through three contrasting Central Otago wine sub-regions; Gibbston, Bannockburn and Cromwell. Enjoy a guided tour through New Zealand’s largest underground wine cave and savour a unique lunch with 5 dishes cooked in retired oak barrels and perfectly matched with 5 wines. You will also have an opportunity to retrace history with a visit to the historical settlements of Arrowtown, and Old Cromwell (when time permits). Learn about the early pioneering history and how the wine region was formed through an array of fun facts and interesting stories from your knowledgeable wine guide. At the end of your tour you will be returned to your accommodation.

Lake Hayes is a beautiful lake located just 15 minutes drive from downtown Queenstown towards Arrowtown. The reflective lake offers panoramic, picturesque views of the surrounding mountains the entire walk.

Bannockburn is a small historic gold mining town located outside of Cromwell in Central Otago. The area was first made known as a rich alluvial gold field and was mined extensively in the 1860s.
Cromwell sits at the junction of the Kawarau and Clutha Rivers in the heart of Central Otago, a destination where gold-rush history meets shimmering lakes, world-class vineyards, and wide-open mountain landscapes.
Situated on the shores of Lake Dunstan, this unique heritage attraction is a mix of original and reconstructed buildings from the old main street of the 1860’s gold town of Cromwell.
Gibbston, the Valley of the Vines, is home to some of the region's oldest vineyards nestled between ruggedly beautiful schist mountains.
Nestled in a river valley surrounded by mountains, sits Arrowtown (Kā-Muriwai), a charming gold-mining town established in 1862 that is rich with natural beauty, history and culture.

This is the second time I have done a wine tour with Appellation Wine Tours, the last time being in 2022 and I had the best time on both occasions. Last time I was on my own and they ensured I was included and felt comfortable, and I enjoyed it so much I had to come again and bring my fiance this time. It’s great that they also mix up the wineries so I tried some different venues this time around. Couldn’t be happier with the value of the day & the terrific customer service overall. I bought a beanie a couple of days before & unfortunately dropped it after our lunch sitting - Martin not only called the venue to ask them to keep it safe for us, the drivers dropped it back to our hotel a day later. It’s this level of attention & care that ensures people will continue to enjoy your tours for a long time to come. Martin was a wonderful guide with a depth of a local knowledge which kept the whole group entertained & interested throughout the day. He’s a a credit to your organisation. Thanks again mate.

A great adventure with like minded people who love food & wine. All wineries were excellent, some with great nibbles. Heaps of wine to drink! Excellent food for lunch. I highly recommend this adventure. I will be doing it again.

We really enjoyed our food and wine tour. The pick up and drop off are super convenient. We had a great group of 7 other tourists on our tour and the lunch was so delicious. Our guide, Graeme, shared great information and history about all of the wineries and the region.
