My son and I have wanted to visit Gallipoli for years, and now we have done it. We had a great tour with Apo, a knowledgeable and interesting guide. He answered all our questions and explained everything in detail. It was fantastic to hear the Turkish side of the conflict, but the best part for us was standing on Chunuk Bair and playing a special moteatea and haka for our fallen soldiers. Apo was very sensitive to this request from us and stood with us, and this meant a lot to us - and had a real symbolism to our day too. Thank you Apo for a wonderful day which we will always remember.
We had a memorable trip. It is a long day but it never felt rushed. Our guide Apo was very knowledgeable and gave a balanced historical account . We saw all the significant sites and came away from the trip with a much greater understanding of what happened in the Gallipoli Peninsula and the impact it had not only upon Australia but also Turkey . No visit to Turkey by any Australian or New Zealander is complete without a tour of the Gallipoli Peninsula. A guide is essential to fully appreciate the history .
This Gallipoli tour was perfect. We were a small group of 9. Apo was an incredibly informative guide and conveyed the events of the ANZAC campaign and Turkish defence with balanced empathy and compassion. Thank you Apo for sharing your knowledge. I highly recommend this tour.
Upon arrival we were warmly greeted by Apo, our guide. Apo was very knowledgeable and shared with us many many stories and significant events at each of the stops. Apo is an amazing narrator. The tour was flexible, catered for vegetarian meals and highly recommended.
Apo was a great story teller, who was obviously well researched. He has fantastic knowledge and showed much respect to both sides of the conflict. Would recommend Apo as a guide any day.
We couldn’t visit this beautiful city without going to Gallipoli. It was a very long day because of the commute from Istanbul but very worth the effort. APO was a friendly and very knowledgeable tour guide and shared some great history as we visited the many sites in the region. Thanks for a great tour APO.
A moving and memorable day. Apo was fantastic as a guide, and added a lot to the overall tour. Everything was high quality, from the transport to the food to the information. Highly recommend!
The tour itself was excellent. Our guide Apo was so incredibly knowledgeable (names, dates, even times!) and friendly. Lunch was delicious. Tour bus was comfy. The only negative is this is a looooong day trip from Istanbul, but if you’re able to sleep on the drive down and back it’s not too bad. And there is beautiful scenery on the way (sunflower fields this time of year). Definitely recommend. But if you can stretch it out to the 2 day tour, it would be more relaxed.
As an Aussie I loved this tour! Our guide Apo did a wonderful job of giving us a detailed re-telling of the significance of Gallipoli, from both the Turks and ANZACs perspective. He was incredibly respectful and patient in how he painted the picture of what went on in the area, throughout the whole day. We visited numerous sites, including ANZAC cove, Brighton Beach, the war museum and Lone Pine. We were given ample time to explore each stop and it ended up being quite a relaxing day, considering it took the entire day to get to- and from Istanbul to Gallipoli and complete the tour. It was a perk that there was only 3 of us on the tour, which made for comfy travelling in the car between sites. I would highly recommend this tour for anyone, especially Aussies who travel to Istanbul (although I probably would not recommend it if you have young children in tow as there is a lot of listening). My partner and I had not originally had this planned on our itinerary but I am so grateful that we had booked it. It’s a neat little package, and for all it’s inclusions, the cost of the tour was really good. It was a memorable day and I couldn’t fault it! -Michelle
