One of the most iconic features of Kiyomizu-dera is its wooden stage, which juts out over the hillside, offering panoramic views of the cherry and maple trees below, as well as the city of Kyoto. The stage is supported by hundreds of wooden pillars, constructed without the use of nails—a testament to traditional Japanese craftsmanship. The temple complex also includes the Jishu Shrine, dedicated to the deity of love and matchmaking. Visitors can try to walk between two stones with their eyes closed—if successful, it is said they will find true love. Kiyomizu-dera is a UNESCO World Heritage site and is especially popular during the cherry blossom and autumn foliage seasons. The temple's architecture, natural surroundings, and cultural significance make it a must-visit destination in Japan.
Explore Kyoto’s timeless beauty by strolling through Ninenzaka and Sannenzaka, two historic lanes leading to the iconic Yasaka Pagoda. These stone-paved streets, lined with traditional wooden shops and teahouses, offer a glimpse into Japan's Edo period. Capture the stunning view of the five-story Yasaka Pagoda towering above, especially enchanting during cherry blossom season or at sunset. Whether shopping for Kyoto crafts, enjoying local delicacies, or simply soaking in the serene atmosphere, a visit to Ninenzaka, Sannenzaka, and Yasaka Pagoda is a journey into the heart of Kyoto's rich cultural heritage.
Kinkaku-ji, or the Golden Pavilion, is one of Kyoto's most iconic landmarks. This Zen Buddhist temple is famous for its stunning, gold-leaf-covered exterior, which reflects beautifully in the surrounding pond. Originally built as a retirement villa for shogun Ashikaga Yoshimitsu in the 14th century, it was later converted into a temple. The serene gardens surrounding Kinkaku-ji are meticulously designed, with pathways leading to tranquil spots offering perfect views of the temple and its reflection. Kinkaku-ji is a UNESCO World Heritage site and a must-visit for anyone exploring the cultural treasures of Kyoto.
Discover the enchanting Arashiyama Bamboo Grove, a serene escape in Kyoto where towering bamboo stalks create a mystical, otherworldly atmosphere. Just a short walk away, cross the iconic Togetsukyo Bridge, which spans the Katsura River and offers breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains, especially vibrant in spring and autumn. Whether you’re strolling through the bamboo forest, renting a traditional rickshaw, or enjoying the riverside scenery, Arashiyama is a must-visit destination that blends natural beauty with cultural heritage. Perfect for photographers, nature lovers, and anyone seeking a tranquil retreat in Kyoto's lush landscapes.
Step into a world of color and tradition at the Kimono Forest in Arashiyama, Kyoto. This stunning outdoor art installation features over 600 cylindrical pillars wrapped in vibrant kimono fabrics, beautifully illuminated after dark. Located near the Randen Arashiyama Station, the Kimono Forest offers a unique blend of modern art and traditional Japanese culture. Each pillar showcases intricate patterns inspired by Kyoto’s rich textile heritage, creating a mesmerizing walkway that feels like stepping through a living kimono. Whether day or night, the Kimono Forest provides a picturesque and enchanting experience, perfect for capturing unforgettable memories in Kyoto.
A landmark in Arashiyama, Kyoto offers a captivating blend of natural beauty and cultural heritage. Spanning the Katsura River, this iconic wooden bridge is surrounded by lush bamboo groves, vibrant cherry blossoms in spring, and fiery autumn foliage, making it a picturesque destination year-round. As you stroll across the bridge, the serene waters below reflect the surrounding.
Explore the spiritual wonder of Fushimi Inari Shrine, Kyoto’s most iconic Shinto shrine, renowned for its thousands of vibrant red torii gates that wind through the sacred Mount Inari. This mystical pathway leads visitors through serene forests, offering stunning views and a deep connection to Japan’s ancient traditions. Dedicated to Inari, the deity of rice and prosperity, the shrine is dotted with fox statues, believed to be Inari’s messengers. We went on this tour with Miss Yuki on the 28th of July 2026 and had an absolute blast! Me and my mom had so much fun learning about Japanese history and culture. Our guide Yuki was lovely and overall we loved our experience ♥ Love from Elif & Nesrin ♡
Yuki is the best we had a blast everything was as planned and perfect
We wanted to see the sites in Kyoto and Ben did a remarkable job. He spoke great English, was engaging with his knowledge, and showed us the Kyoto we wanted to see—beyond the tourist destinations. He was also well prepared with ice cold water on a hot day and umbrellas for the late afternoon shower. Thank you!
Lovely whistle stop tour of Kyoto taking in most of the important sites. The vehicle (Toyota Alphard) was clean and comfortable and the driver very professional. Our English speaking guide Yuki-San was extremely friendly and accommodating and made us feel completely at ease from the get go. Our daughter loved spending time with Yuki-San and they bonded really well throughout the day. Thank you very much for a great experience!
Nozo was very helpful and polite throughout our tour. He even took us to a local restaurant when requested.
Or guide, Christine, went above and beyond to make our trip an unforgettable experience. She is personable and intelligent, and accommodated us at every step.
It was a very good experience; it was worth having booked the tour because we made the most of our time, plus the guide, Somei, explained all the history and geography of the places we visited and was attentive to us at all times; he even took us to look for some t-shirts we needed.
100% would recommend. We got Akira as our guide and he was fantastic. The pickup was perfect - they were early to our hotel, and dropped us off as well, which was very much appreciated. Akira was knowlegeable, kind, and even brought an ice back-pack which helped fight the humidity and heat because it was really terrible. He even came with ice packs, water, and those cooling menthol wet wipes, and his own little garbage bag (a must-have in Japan). Organized to be sure. The ride with the driver was also wonderful, and Akira took the time to find THE BEST restaurant to eat in, which was such a great experience, and he explained everything so nicely, never rushed us and was great the entire time. Highly recommend doing this especially if you don't want the hassle of waiting for buses and frying in the sun for long periods of time, or getting lost like the other tourists we saw. It was a good way to get a feel for what to see and what is nice. We would go back to the Ten Thousand Gates for a second time (it was so peaceful and the breeze was lovely) but likely skip the rest of the other monuments if we really had to pick, even though they were very nice and interesting.
All day tour of Osaka/Kyoto with Christine- was a super experience- We visited the bamboo forest went to several temples and shrines ; shopping areas and even enjoyed a traditional Japanese meal at a nice local restaurant, Christine is knowledgeable a friendly guide who is flexible with and willing to work with us when juggling our itinerary and accommodating our touring and shopping needs, The tour covered all our entrance fees and food costs and shoe arranged for us to sample local honey products and other foods: All of our connections; pickups and drop offs and transfers were on time-. The driver was professional and courteous, pretty good tour value for the money, I would recommend Christine to anyone taking this particular .
