This guide is one of a kind. This tour is the one you need to do when in San Jose. Olman was very accommodating and really made the whole experience 100 times better. Was very knowledgeable of the local wildlife and history. Allowed time to explore and never once felt rushed. Overall just a great time. Easy hotel pickup and drop-off. Really did his best to make this tour an unforgettable experience.
Excellent trip, lovely guide. The volcano was great but I really loved torito the jaguar.
It was a wonderful day of adventures! Olman was a great driver, and both he and our guide were super friendly and accommodating. I especially appreciate that they were happy to move our tour after I realized I had made it for the wrong day. Oops! This tour gives a great taste of Costa Rica, and you can’t go wrong with this company! Pure vida!
Fantastic day tour. Smooth pickup from door then a beautiful drive up to the coffee plantation. The volcano was covered with clouds but that’s just how it goes sometimes. It’s a lovely hike if you like the outdoors. There’s a good amount of walking, some uphill and stairs, so be prepared and take a poncho. The nature preserve was fun! Waterfalls are amazing. Olman is a great and friendly guide. I highly recommend.
This tour is a great way to spend the day from San Jose. Pick up was easy and stress free as Olman was in communication with me about traffic delays. I had a great time and Olman was even nice enough to drop me off at the airport after the tour had ended!
The trip to the coffee plantation, volcano, and waterfalls was wonderful - we would absolutely recommend it! We were notified the night before the trip of our approximate pickup time, and we were picked up right on time in a clean, comfortable van. The coffee plantation was beautiful, and the coffee was delicious. We could have sat and enjoyed the scenery all day. The second stop, the volcano, included a nice walk to the lookout area, and an additional walk to the lagoon. Unfortunately, the clouds were covering both the volcano and the lagoon so we weren't able to see much, but it was a nice experience. The last stop was really enjoyable - the birds and animals were really cool to see up close, lunch was good, and the waterfalls were gorgeous. All in all, we would definitely do it again.
Very interesting and spectacular, although the views of the crater and the lagoon depend on the luck you have with the weather (the fog), and in our case, fortune was not on our side. Even so, a recommended experience.
It was a wonderful day! Olman was a great guide.
I've taken a lot of guided tours over the years, and I don't say this lightly: this was the best tour I've ever taken. The itinerary itself is outstanding—Poás Volcano, a coffee plantation, La Paz Waterfall Gardens, an incredible buffet lunch, and some of the most beautiful scenery Costa Rica has to offer—but what truly made this day unforgettable was Olman. I've been on plenty of tours where the guide simply takes you from one stop to the next. This wasn't that. From the moment we met, it was obvious that Olman genuinely loves what he does. He isn't just a guide—he's the owner of the company, and you can feel the pride he takes in making sure every guest has an unforgettable experience. Before pickup, he shared his live location through WhatsApp, which I really appreciated because I always knew where he was and when to expect him. He picked me up in an immaculate, exceptionally comfortable, nearly new tour van, and I later learned he also has a brand-new, larger van for bigger groups. Whether you're traveling solo, as a couple, or with family and friends, he's equipped to provide a first-class experience. What impressed me most was his knowledge. At the coffee plantation, he explained everything from how coffee is grown, harvested, and roasted to the history behind Costa Rica's coffee industry. As someone who spent years in the wine industry, I appreciated how much there was to learn, and Olman made every stop fascinating without ever making it feel like a lecture. At Poás Volcano, he knew exactly where to stop for the best views and photos. He's also an outstanding photographer. He found great angles, suggested the best places to stand, and captured some of my favorite pictures from my entire Costa Rica trip. Four people canceled that morning, so I ended up being the only guest. Many guides would have canceled or simply gone through the motions, but not Olman. He gave me the same enthusiasm, professionalism, and attention that I'd expect if the van had been completely full. We spent the day talking, laughing, learning, and exploring, and by the end of the tour it felt more like I had spent the day with a friend who just happens to know everything there is to know about Costa Rica. One thing that really stood out was how well known and respected Olman is. Everywhere we went, people greeted him by name and were genuinely happy to see him. It wasn't just that people recognized him—it was obvious they respected him. After spending the day with him, I completely understood why. His eye for wildlife is incredible. Because of him, I got to watch a wild sloth carrying her baby, see a butterfly emerging from its chrysalis while its wings were still drying, and notice countless plants, insects, and animals I would have walked right past on my own. Those unexpected moments became some of the highlights of the entire day. La Paz Waterfall Gardens completely exceeded my expectations. The waterfalls are so massive and powerful that you don't just see them—you actually feel them. Standing beside them was unforgettable. The gardens are beautifully maintained, the walking trails are gorgeous, and all of the animal habitats looked spacious, natural, and exceptionally well cared for. Every animal looked healthy and active, and it was obvious the park takes tremendous pride in what they do. Everything about the day was seamless. Every admission was already included, the buffet lunch was excellent, and the pace was perfect. I never felt rushed. I've had multiple ankle surgeries, and I found the walking very manageable while still getting to experience everything. The biggest compliment I can give is this: when I return to Costa Rica, I won't spend a minute looking for another guide. I'll be calling Olman. Whether it's this tour or one of the many other experiences he offers, I already know who I want showing me around. Beyond his knowledge and professionalism, what I'll remember most is the kind of person he is. He's genuinely positive, cares about his guests, and has a way of making the entire day feel easy, relaxed, and fun. If you're trying to decide which Poás Volcano, La Paz Waterfall Gardens, and coffee plantation tour to book, stop searching. This is the one. I can recommend it without hesitation, and I honestly believe it's the best tour I've ever taken.
Our guide Olman was very knowledgeable and was able to answer any of our questions. It was lovely to try a choice of our coffee at the plantation and Olman ensured I had a coffee that I would like. The volcano was amazing to see and we were very fortunate that the weather was on our side as it was extremely clear. The waterfall gardens with the animal sanctuary were a brilliant part of the trip! Please be mindful of waterproof clothing as when it rains, it pours! There are many steps around the park and the waterfalls which are quite steep with water gushing down them. Just mind your step and hold onto the rails. I would recommend this trip to experience the many sights you may not see on your travels again. I think to make our experience even better a list of what to bring such as waterproof clothing, snacks, change of clothes etc to be messaged once the trip has been booked. I have been on many trips before and have found this very useful for checking against. It is important to note that you cannot swim in the waterfalls so do not pack swimming things. Another point to note is when I booked the trip I was given a pick up time of between 7:30am-8:30am. I queried this the day before on the instant chat around 3pm and was given the same time with the reason being because of traffic and other guests to pick up. I explained that it is not reasonable to expect people to wait an hour on the proviso of possibly being the first to be picked up. I was given a pick up time of 8:20am by email and WhatsApp message at 11:53pm however I was already asleep by this point and did not see it until I woke up that morning. It would be helpful to travellers to be told the pick up time before 9pm the night before so they can organise themselves ready for the day.
