Itinerary
The most magnificent landscape around Göreme has been formed from its solidified lava streams, its ash and tuff stone, all dating from Neocene period. It is criss-crossed by deep valleys formed by heavy erosion. This veritable lunar landscape distinguishes itself by its extensive geological formations. The highly typical morphological structures of Cappadocia are the result of thousands of years of continual erosion, which has shaped the tuff deposits into the strangest pyramids and cones.
Lying in south central Turkey, the moonscaped region of Cappadocia, southeast of Ankara, is most famous for unique geological features called fairy chimneys. The large, cone-like formations were created over time by erosion of the relatively soft volcanic ash around them. Past cultures have dug into them to create dwellings, castles (like Uchisar) and even entire underground cities like Kaymakli and Derinkuyu, used as hiding places by early Christians. Nearby Kayseri is the gateway to the area.
The Goreme Open-Air Museum resembles a vast monastic complex composed of scores of refectory monasteries placed side-by-side, each with its own fantastic church. It is obviously the first sight to be visited by any traveler in Cappadocia, standing as it does in the very center of the region with easy access from all directions.
underground city is built under the hill known as the Citadel and was opened to visitors in 1964. The people of ozkonak (Enegup in Greek) village have constructed their houses around nearly one hundred tunnels of the underground city. The inhabitants of the region still use the most convenient places in the tunnels as cellars, storage areas and stables, which they access through their courtyards. The ozkonak Underground City has low, narrow and sloping passages. While the underground city consists of 8 floors below ground, only 4 of them are open to the public today, in which the spaces are organized around ventilation shafts.
Pasabag in Cappadocia is located on the road to Zelve, coming from Goreme or Avanos. Highly remarkable earth pillars can be seen here, in the middle of a vineyard, hence the name of the place which means: the Pacha's vineyard. Pacha means "General", the military rank, in Turkish and it is a very common nick name. This site is also called Monks Valley. The name was derived from some cones carved in tuff stones which stand apart. Currently, there is a vineyard and a number of tuff cones standing right next to the road.
Avanos is a town in centre of Cappadocia and famous for pottery making we will make a stop in one of the pottery workshop and you will watch pottery demonstration also you can try yourself as well
Pigeon Valley is a popular tourist destination located in the Cappadocia region of Turkey. The valley is known for its beautiful scenery, rock-cut dovecotes, and hiking trails. Some of the highlights of Pigeon Valley include: Rock-cut dovecotes: The valley is known for its rock-cut dovecotes, which were carved out of the soft volcanic rock by ancient people. These dovecotes were used to raise pigeons for food, and they are a unique feature of the valley. Visitors can see the dovecotes and learn about the traditional way of life in Cappadocia. Hiking: Pigeon Valley is a popular spot for hiking and trekking. Visitors can hike along the valley and enjoy the beautiful scenery and natural rock formations. Ilkay was an excellent guide and the entire tour was well-planned and very reasonably priced
Review I did the Red and Green full-day tours in Cappadocia in Spanish with Mert , and it was one of the highlights of my trip! Mert was incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, and passionate about the history and culture of the region. He explained everything in a fun and engaging way, making each stop even more interesting. The tours were very well organized, covered all the must-see sites, and gave us a great mix of history, stunning landscapes, and local experiences. From the fairy chimneys and underground cities to the breathtaking valleys, every stop was unforgettable. I highly recommend booking the Red and Green tours with Mert if you’re visiting Cappadocia. It’s the perfect way to explore the area and learn so much about this incredible place. Thank you, Mert, for making our experience so memorable!
Great way to spend a day in and around Göreme and surrounds to see and do all of the sights in one comfortable day, with everything organised for you. Our travel guide a Dunë was also so lovely and knowledgeable and very sweet and made sure everyone was well looked after. You will have to pay for lunch (which was really affordable and delicious by the way) and ticketed entry to the sights, which works well especially if with a group and some do not want to visit a particular place.
We had a great Cappadocia Tour with our guide Didem. She was kind, helpful, and explained the history and culture of the area very clearly. Göreme Open Air Museum was one of the highlights, and her explanations made the visit much more meaningful. The tour was well organized and enjoyable. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Cappadocia.
Guide Emre is gentle and soft-spoken, and very handsome. Our driver drove smoothly, ensuring we had a safe and pleasant journey. The itinerary covers plenty of sights, offering great value for money. We were also given ample free time. Highly recommend this tour if you do not plan to self-drive!
Great tour for a low price. Didem did a great job providing historical context at each stop, helping us understand how these beautiful sites were created. The bus will stop by your hotel to pick you up, saving you the time of getting to a central location. Helpful tip: if you have the already have the Cappadocia or Turkiye Museum pass, you will only need to pay for your own lunch during your tour.
This was a great tour with great variety. Our tour guide Didem was wonderful and very knowledgeable. All the cool facts and history she provided really enhanced the experience! Highly recommend this tour!

Cappadocia was one of the stops on our big family road trip and, being interested in more than just sightseing, we decided to take a professional guide - and what a great decision this proved to be! Ms. Donna was not only super professional, knowledgeable and friendly, she presented information in a way that kept kids (and adults) animated, asking for more. Kids loved the experience, learned q lot and were genuinely happy, which means goal achieved. Highly recommended for anyone looking for added value when visiting this amazing place. Honorary mention goes to Mr. Mustafa who made all the logistic efforts to make it all work. A++++
