Mount Aso is home to one of the world's largest active volcanic calderas, with the dramatic Nakadake Crater offering spectacular views of steaming volcanic vents and rugged landscapes. Volcanic activity and weather conditions determine access to the crater. If the crater is open, this stop replaces the visit to Kamishikimi Kumanoimasu Shrine, allowing travelers to experience one of Japan's most remarkable natural wonders. Mount Aso volcano is currently closed. We will change Mount Aso to Kamishikimi Kumanoza Shrine. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Kusasenri is a breathtaking volcanic grassland located within Aso-Kuju National Park in Kumamoto Prefecture. Formed by volcanic activity around 30,000 years ago, this vast plain lies inside a massive crater and features lush green meadows, seasonal ponds, and panoramic views of the active Mount Aso volcano. It's one of Kyushu's most iconic natural landscapes, offering excellent opportunities for sightseeing, photography, and relaxing amidst Japan's dramatic volcanic scenery.

Visitors can explore scenic grasslands, picturesque gorges, peaceful shrines, and local cuisine, making Kumamoto a must-visit destination for nature lovers and history enthusiasts alike.
