Itinerary
Originally a warehouse for the Tait & Co. Merchant House during the 19th century, this site was abandoned for decades, allowing giant banyan trees to take over the structure. Today, it is a stunning example of nature reclaiming industrial architecture. The aerial walkways allow visitors to stroll through the massive roots and thick foliage that have literally become the walls and roof of the building. It offers a mysterious, mystical atmosphere that is a favorite for photographers and nature lovers.
Fort Zeelandia was a fortress built over ten years from 1624 to 1634 by the Dutch East India Company, in the town of Anping on Formosa, the former name of central island of Taiwan, during their 38-year rule over the western part of the island.
Originally a Dutch fortress built in 1653, this landmark now features elegant Chinese pavilions atop ancient foundations. It is a symbol of Tainan, famous for its historic statues and beautiful twilight views
Built in 1666, this is the oldest Confucius Temple in Taiwan. Known as "The First Academy," its serene red-walled grounds offer a peaceful look into ancient Confucian traditions and classic Ming-style architecture
Tainan’s best-preserved historical street. Once a bustling trade hub, it is now a charming alley filled with art studios, cafes, and lanterns. It is especially magical at night and perfect for photography
A 1932 Japanese-era landmark featuring Taiwan’s first elevator. Now a boutique cultural mall, it offers unique local crafts and a rooftop Shinto shrine with views of the city’s historical district.

I had a fantastic day trip to Tainan from Kaohsiung with Charlie as my guide. He was incredibly knowledgeable and shared so many interesting details and stories throughout the day. At the same time, he gave me plenty of space to explore on my own and was always there whenever I needed him. Super reliable, genuinely engaged, and clearly committed to making sure I had a great day. He really went the extra mile, and I couldn’t have asked for a better guide. Highly recommended!
We had a wonderful tour of Tainan with our guide Charlie. Our group had a mix of Chinese and English speakers which he seamlessly accommodated. We saw a variety of historical and religious sites, each explained in an interesting and informative way. Charlie also shared interesting anecdotes about locations we passed and made an excellent lunch recommendation. He even brought bottles of water in the car! This tour was an excellent use of time and money. Would recommend!
