Variety and flavors of foods was great. Walking wear comfortable shoes uneven street surfaces all over New Orleans French Quarter. Staff at all establishments and tour guide were personable and knowledgeable
Roger was our tour guide, and he was brilliant with sharing the history of New Orleans. As a former educator, he is extremely knowledgeable and did his homework. We enjoyed his personality, friendliness, and hospitality. The tour hits the highlights of famous New Orleans cuisine and the food was delectable.

The meeting location instructions and the voucher had two different addresses. We of course picked the wrong address to show up to; it was basically a flip of the coin. So that was a little stressful. The tour was a nice experience and the guide, knowledgeable, but it really felt more like we were on a city tour with random city facts and not necessarily a food tour. Food seemed to be the afterthought. We were hurried in a few restaurants and not enough description or information was provided about what we were eating or how it came about in the New Orleans culture. For example, I learned jambalaya can either have meat or seafood, but that they won’t be mixed. (And the guide didn’t know why.) That’s sort of interesting, but I would have liked to have learned why jambalaya was created, and why it’s so similar to red beans and rice, which we also sampled. Maybe these were peasant foods and a way to create a stew to feed many people with the limited ingredients they had available? Or maybe they are exotic dishes from royalty? Don’t know. From previous food tours we’ve been on in other places, we expected a different kind of experience.

This was the perfect way to experience New Orleans food. Our guide Charles was incredibly informative. I did not think I was going to learn as much as I did on the tour. Charles was a little wacky and that exactly how I like my tour guides lol. Perfect mix of good New Orleans food, cocktails, history, and dad jokes! Just please don’t bring picky eaters, they are boring lol!
