Super experience

It is quite comprehensive, covering the principal sites and working them in perfectly with excellent history. This , together with Anie's excellent communication skills, made it into a memorable experience. I taught Hospitatity, Tourism and Customer service in Ireland and know an excellent guide when I meet one!

Worth Doing

Thank you to Caz for an enjoyable walking tour. His knowledge and passion for Bordeaux really came across, and he kept the tour interesting with plenty of humour along the way. The tour lasted just under two hours and covered the city’s history, geography and modern-day Bordeaux. The small group made it easy to ask questions and enjoy the experience at a relaxed pace. Caz also shared some fantastic restaurant and wine bar recommendations. One of his top recommendations was Le Sobre Chartrons, where we enjoyed a complimentary glass of wine after the tour. Their self-service wine dispensers are such a unique concept and well worth checking out. Merci!

Great walking tour!

Melanie was a truly engaging speaker, she led us around the major sights of Bordeaux and gave us insights into the history and legendary figures. In the heat she ensured we were taken to shady spots. Great walking tour, definitely recommend 👌

Introduction to Bordeaux

Our walking tour began, as most do, with an overview of the history of the city that provided a framework and touch-points for the information about specific places that would follow. Four major historical points were emphasized: the founding of the city by the Romans, the medieval period, the French Revolution, and the modern day. Overall, the information tended to focus primarily on history and architecture, more so than culture and lifestyle. Our guide did provide some tips on places to prioritize for follow-up visits depending upon how long you have in the city. An important note about the "1 glass of wine": the stop for wine was not made during the tour; rather, the guide gave the name and location for a specific bar that could be visited after its 5;30p opening where you could ask for the guide (who worked there) and receive the wine. According to the information provided the night before the tour, that bar is not open on Tuesdays or Wednesdays.

Free, but not really.

The tour itself was wonderful. Ani is very knowledgeable and presents a lot of information in a friendly and interesting way. The problem was with Trip Advisor, who calls it a “free” tour but charges for registering and then mentions that a tip of at least €25 per person should be given. Also, Trip Advisor sent me at least 8 emails, plus text messages and messages on WhatsApp about the tour date and time. This is too much!!
