15 min. stop at Tvindefossen Waterfall. Standing tall at an impressive 116 meters (381 ft), this natural wonder is more than just your average cascade. Fed by the Kroelvi stream, it dramatically tumbles over a receding cliff, showcasing nature's raw power and sheer beauty. What makes Tvindefossen one of the best waterfalls in Norway isn't just its height or the mesmerizing water flow; it's the legends and history that envelop it, giving this spot a mystical aura. You might chuckle at first, but there's a local legend that has turned into quite the talking point.

45 min

Nestled at the very end of the UNESCO-listed Nærøyfjord in Norway lies the picturesque village of Gudvangen, inviting you to explore the wonders of nature and history that define this unique destination. Gudvangen, embraced by massive, towering mountains of the Nærøydalen valley, is a place where past and present converge, and the beauty of the natural world envelops you at every turn. 2 hour cruise through Nærøyfjorden. The narrow and spectacular Nærøyfjord is surrounded by steep valley sides and snow-covered peaks that rise 1,800 metres above sea level, with thundering waterfalls and picturesque villages along the fjord. Regardless of the season, a cruise on the Nærøyfjord will be an unforgettable experience. The two vessels Vision and Future of The Fjords represent a brand-new standard in design and technology. They have been designed to maximise the tourist experience during any kind of weather, with large windows and walkways inspired by the winding trails of steep mountain terrain. Passengers are encouraged to go out on the top deck and enjoy a very different experience compared to traditional passenger vessels. We will arrive in Flåm.

45 min

Flåm is the most popular village around the Aurlandsfjord, and one of Norway’s most popular tourist destinations. The village has had a history of tourism dating back over 100 years, to when rich, British tourists would come to the fjords to fish salmon in the rivers here. Flåm is small, with around 400 inhabitants. However, in the high season, we sometimes have over 10’000 visitors in a day! Stegastein has a unique and spectacular viewing platform that hangs 30 meters from the mountainside, 650 meters above the fjord, and offers an unparalleled panoramic view. Over the course of one hour, the train takes you from sea level at the Sognefjord in Flåm to the Myrdal mountain station, situated at 867 metres above sea level. Myrdal is also a station on the Bergen Line, meaning the Flåm Railway connects with trains running between Bergen and Oslo. Impressive day in the fjord

It was a long day’s journey, arriving at Bergen station at 21:30 before 8 a.m., but one we would regret if we didn’t. Concerned weather was also cloudy from the initial rain, making it a perfect day to peek between cloudy and sunny skies. Our guide Brandon was friendly and explained everything from the fjords to the Viking history, the historical relationship between Norway and Sweden and Denmark, and eventually the health insurance situation in Norway, until we were approached. Stopping waterfalls earlier, Stegastein observatory with bird-like views over the fjord (traffic on the narrow slopes was tough lol), fjord cruises with more and more magnificent scenery, and spectacular scenery from the lovely Flåm Railway (where there were unreserved seats, the staff made room for us to relax and enjoy our mountain railway journey). Finally, the train from Myrdal back to Bergen prepared reserved seats for us, so we could enjoy the view from the train window here with peace of mind. Thank you so much for all the wonderful memories of a lifetime, guide Brandon and driver Jhon. One thing we need to provide information to participants is toilet conditions. I visited here during the Bon festival in Japan, probably in some seasons, but everywhere there is a long line in the toilet. I thought it would be better if we took action early enough.

Bjarte!

Bjarte was amazing! He truly went above and beyond, and loves what he does. Awesome itinerary. Be aware the crowds at some of the stops can be a lot, and the trip can be compromised by the weather. Fortunately Bjarte was able to handle any situations with ease. 10/10 would recommend if you can deal with crowds on the boat and in Flam.

Norway Highlights

It is a long day but the scenery itself is worth it. Stig was our guide and he did an excellent job of explaining the history of Norway. He also made a great effort to maximize our time at the sights!!!! Great job Stig!

Long day; beautiful views

Overall, out guide was fantastic and the sites we saw were spectacular. Our guide was even able to make a couple of other stops providing beautiful and picturesque moments! I would recommend with some cautions. It’s a long day spending most of the time on transportation. Getting to the overlook after the fjord cruise actually took a couple of hours due to heavy traffic and vehicles blocking the narrow road. Our train to Bergen encountered some confusion. We were handed out ticket with handwritten seat assignments by our guide. He said he was given notice of a problem the night before so he had to spend his break fixing our seat assignments. When my family got on the train there were people in our seats with printed out tickets. Since our assignments were just handwritten we felt the need to move out. We ended up sitting at a table in the dining car. Staff on the train seemed to be just as confused as we were and somewhat unhelpful. Booking this tour allows you to get outside of Bergen to see some amazing views along the western portion of Norway. Just know that to do so requires quite a bit of time in the coach and on a train. The outside of the vehicle time was significantly less than inside. Additionally, it is somewhat disappointing to be that close to the Dale of Norway sweater outlet and not be able to stop.

Amazing experience!

This was a great time. Amazing way to see a lot of sights in a single day. Some tips: dress warm for the fjords. Pack an umbrella. If given an option, do the glam railway and sit on the right side when departing Flam. Pick a window that pulls down so you can get videos with no glass in the way
