A very long and rushed day

Not sure where to begin firstly had amazing Viator trip to Hobbiton a couple of days prior so perhaps we needed to manage our expectations. Firstly this trip felt like we were a shuttle bus and not with a tour guide and the driver though nice enough you could tell he was stressed we started off in Hamilton but he had picked 5 others up from Auckland beforehand and left them in a cafe whilst coming for us which was fine but then we also picked up another 2 from Rotorua who did half the trip so everything felt extremely rushed and the driving was interesting. The natural beauty of New Zealand’s thermo and geyser was amazing you do a lot of walking which was fine for us but you need to be aware of this and it is a long day though we never got to see Tirau which may have been because of the traffic but not sure. Think definitely manage your expectations for the travelling part of this trip but what you do get to see is amazing.

Operator response

Thank you for taking the time to share your detailed feedback and for joining our tour. We’re really glad to hear that you enjoyed the incredible geothermal landscapes and natural beauty that New Zealand has to offer. The geysers, thermal pools, and walking trails in the region are truly unique, and it’s wonderful to know that these highlights made a lasting impression on you. We also appreciate your comments regarding the travel experience. Our tours sometimes include pickups from different locations to accommodate guests from multiple cities, and we understand that this can occasionally make the journey feel busy. Your feedback helps us continue improving how we manage timing and guest comfort throughout the day. Regarding Tirau, traffic conditions or timing adjustments can sometimes affect shorter stops, but we always aim to include as many highlights as possible within the schedule. Thank you again for travelling with us and for your thoughtful review. We hope you enjoyed the rest of your time in New Zealand.

A must do

What a great trip - packing several sights into one day! Sid, our driver and tour guide kept us all right throughout the day and gave us options at the various stops. It was a nice small group with just 6 of us and everyone was friendly, making it a lovely day out. The sights are amazing - from the clear water of the Blue Spring to all the vibrant colours around the volcanic areas. A day not to miss if you go to North Island!

Operator response

Thank you for such a wonderful review! We’re delighted you enjoyed the small group experience, stunning sights, and Sid’s guiding—it sounds like a truly memorable day on the North Island.
