What a fantastic and informative day we had with Mehmet (aka Mehmo), who gave us the most brilliant tour of Ephesus and the Terraced Houses, as well as patiently accommodating a brief coffee stop in Selçuk for us to catch up with a friend. The day started well with this kindness and then just got better! We absolutely loved our guided tour of Ephesus. Mehmo is highly knowledgeable, speaks perfect English and made the place come alive with his descriptions and anecdotes. The ancient city of Ephesus and the Terraced Houses are breathtaking. You can imagine all the bustle and activity that they hummed with. Mehmo pointed out so many interesting details as we traversed the site. He was also very caring, looking after our safety on the uneven ground and always finding shade in the midday heat. He also took us to a carpet showroom and a pottery workshop, both supported by the government to ensure these ancient skills are not lost. We really enjoyed seeing the crafts in action and there was no awkwardness when we declined to purchase anything. We would thoroughly recommend this tour. We didn’t feel like just another tourist couple. There was a real sense of connection and mutual appreciation. Thank you, Mehmo!
