Itinerary
The Belvedere in Vienna is one of the world's leading museums, featuring an outstanding art collection from the Middle Ages to the present day. The impressive Baroque complex, consisting of the Upper and Lower Belvedere and their beautiful gardens, was built in the 18th century as the summer residence of Prince Eugene of Savoy. Later, Empress Maria Theresa transformed the Upper Belvedere into one of the world's first public museums. Today, the Lower Belvedere hosts temporary exhibitions. This ticket includes admission only (no guided tour). Visitors can proceed directly to the museum entrance and enjoy their visit at their own pace. Belvedere feels spacious even before going inside. The formal gardens, fountains and long views between the two palace buildings make the walk through the grounds a big part of the visit. There are plenty of good photo angles around the reflecting pool, though the main areas can get quite busy. The museum visit is easy to manage with a timed ticket, and the rooms themselves are worth noticing as much as what’s displayed in them. Families should be fine here, but younger children may enjoy the outdoor space more than a long indoor visit. I’d allow a couple of hours for one building and the gardens, longer if visiting both Upper and Lower Belvedere.

Very pretty! It's smaller than the Palace of Versailles, but it's very snug!!!

Beautiful rooms, gorgeous palace. I knew there would be no guide but the listed meeting point was Hofburg Palace which is massive with different areas. Good thing we arrived early as it took us a while to realize we were meeting at the Sisi museum entrance.
I bought tickets through TripAdvisor and got a confirmation but when I tried to pull up the actual tickets, I got a message to check my email as the tickets had been sent separately. I was unable to find any separate email and had to buy tickets again at the museum.
We visited the Belvedere Museum in the afternoon, and it was a beautiful experience. The museum itself is a masterpiece, with its elegant architecture and fascinating art. After exploring the galleries, we wandered through the peaceful gardens, which are free to access and quite popular. It was a perfect way to end our visit, enjoying the serene atmosphere and beautiful views of the museum and its surroundings.

Our favorite place we went to in Vienna, as a family. The artworks were wonderful, and our children were so amazed to see works that they had seen only in books. The grounds were beautiful, but it was winter. I would have loved to see the outside in the spring or summer. It was well worth our time and money.

Just back from a 4 day Christmas Market city break in Vienna, during which we visited the Lower Belvedere Palace, including the Orangery, the stables, gardens and Messerschmitt and Brown art exhibitions. We spent about 2 hours there viewing the various art exhibitions and is certainly worth a visit. There was an exhibition of various famous impressionists art on display, (Renoir, Degas etc), as well as other contemporary and middle age exhibits. The Baroque interiors are fine examples, especially the Hall of the Grotesque, the Marble Gallery and the Golden room. Well worth a visit if that is your type of thing.

Amazing exhibits! I learned so much about Klimt's painting technique and Slovenian painters. Absolutely loved it, and recommend people to visit the Upper Belvedere and this place with the combination ticket.

My entire visit to the Belvedere included going to the upper Belvedere, the lower Belvedere and the gardens. The upper Beveldere is fantastic. Beautiful construction and spectacular works. The lower one has a beautiful room and the collection has beautiful paintings. But if the time is limited I don't think it's an indispensable visit. The gardens cannot be commented. It was being replanted; there was no beauty caused by the coming of the year. But I believe that in spring/summer it should be beautiful.

Personally I didn't find it interesting. It seems like one of those places that would not be essential on a short visit to Vienna.
Thank you for your feedback! The temporary exhibitions at Lower Belvedere give us the opportunity to offer a wide range of art and something for every taste. However, we regret that our exhibitions have not been able to convince you.
