Nausicaá has the potential to be an exceptional day out, but unfortunately our experience was seriously marred by the crowds. We were well and truly packed in like sardines (excuse the fishy pun), making it difficult to see anything, with huge queues, stuffy heat and the nauseating stench of BO. We’d read warnings about the crowds beforehand, but didn’t realise quite how bad it would be. The one-way layout also meant that once you were in an exhibition, it was difficult to find a way out, which made the experience even more overwhelming. The dark, enclosed spaces, suffocating heat and screaming children running riot made it particularly unpleasant, and at times it was genuinely difficult to catch your breath. The sea lion show was exceptionally well done, although be warned that it is entirely in French, so international visitors may struggle to follow it. I’m sure Nausicaá would be brilliant on a quieter day, but given the fairly high entry fee, we expected a more enjoyable experience.
A little disappointed, too much virtual for my taste, I would have preferred more aquarium. Dining inside, overpriced sandwich 6 dollars for a mini ham and Swiss sandwich, which is actually shoulder and tasteless cheese and bread that makes you work your jaw like never before!!!! Bring your own, it is allowed on the large terrace. To do, but for 3 adults 31.50 euros x3 and parking at 8 euros, a meal of 3 sandwiches and 3 soft drinks 28 euros + gas round trip 30 euros coming from Lille, a day at 160.50 euros. I think that the 15 euro admission and slightly higher quality sandwiches would have been better received.
Terrible — a real waste of money and time Nausicaá was one big disappointment for us. It's way too busy. You don’t feel like you’re walking freely through an aquarium at all, but like you’re being led through a prison: you can’t get out of anywhere decent, have to follow a mandatory route and shuffle with the crowd from hall to hall. And then the show... it's really nothing. You absolutely don't have to come for that. Moreover, the show is given exclusively in French, while there are an awful lot of foreign tourists around. That makes it even less interesting for many visitors. When we indicated at the ticket counter how very busy it was, our comments were just laughed off a bit. The employee even said that it was “quiet” with 3,000 visitors. 😳 If 3,000 people is quiet, according to Nausicaá, I don’t want to know how busy it normally is. Frankly, I can't say anything positive about our visit. We came out angry, frustrated and feeling like we had wasted our time and money. Don't go here during your summer vacation. Save yourself the fuss, frustration and disappointment. There are plenty more fun things to do with your holiday day.
- too expensive - way too busy - not accessible for people with walking difficulties - only French is spoken during the show - show is nothing - everywhere people, you can't see - you feel trapped because you have to walk a route - not recommended, especially in summer
Avoid: too many people, too hot, and no map received at the entrance. Lines for security (+/-15min), to enter (5min), then pushing and shoving in front of every aquarium. Impossible to see the aquariums because so many people were crowding around them (sometimes pointing a smartphone right under your nose). Not suitable for 3-year-old children: you often have to carry them because the aquariums are up high. Disappointing experience given the entrance price. Other animal parks have better facilities. Nausicaa would benefit from installing a counter (in the form of a turnstile or other) to regulate the number of people in each space.
It is not worth the price, as many sections are repetitive.
Overall, the place is disappointing. For parking, we followed the public transportation information and parked at the Capecure parking lot, which is served by free shuttles. It was perfect. The aquarium itself is disappointing: very crowded, noisy, and above all, almost no explanation about the animals we see. The very discreet digital screens that present them contain no information other than the name, whether the species is endangered, and possibly one descriptive sentence. The sharks present in the tanks are not explained at all, even though there is a gallery dedicated to sharks! Those in the gallery (pictured) are the most well-known specimens in the world and not those in the aquarium. Too bad. The ecological message is delivered in a not-so-subtle way. The shop is in total contradiction with the message, with products made in China and plastic objects despite the pollution these objects represent. As for the exhibition on IFREMER, the boat's gangway moves and it amuses people, but there is no in-depth explanation of the mission of this wonderful institute. A clear preference for the Brest aquarium, which is much richer in explanations.
Really nice experience and worth it
Nice visit, lots of things to see Friendly staff who are easily available to provide you with information Everything is provided for babies and children: stroller storage, baby carrier loan Lockers are available at the reception. Well-marked route Only downsides: paid parking and a lot of people at the entrance
Mixed experience due to the summer crowds. We followed the site's advice by arriving in the morning, but traffic and access to the aquarium parking lot were long and complicated. There seemed to be fewer people when we came back out around 3 p.m. The crowd was very dense, the rooms very noisy between music, shouting, and crying, which made the visit exhausting. The large tank is impressive but not very beautiful and there are few aquariums in the end. The most interesting thing for adults is the information on global warming and some positive initiatives on this subject. It was disappointing for the teens who like aquariums. For the little ones and their parents, it felt more like a nightmare because it was so crowded.
