Magic Dolphin Eco is the only purpose built dolphin & whale watching catamaran in Madeira Island with hybrid-electric engines. It was specially developed to assure our passengers a safe, comfortable and exceptional tour. Its hybrid-electric engines reduce noise and emissions making it the best experience not only for our guests, but also for our beloved cetaceans! There are two levels for the best viewing, four trampoline nets located at the bow of the boat, two bathrooms and two bars where you can purchase drinks and snacks. Our crew of certified guides are there to ensure everyone the best possible experience. They share their knowledge about the species we encounter, the history of Madeira and the local highlights.

We depart from the marina in Funchal and head offshore to encounter whales, dolphins, sea turtles and oceanic birds. Our spotters on land use powerful binoculars to find the animals and send the boat directly to them! Once we have explored offshore we typically cruise by Cabo Girão, the 2nd tallest sea cliff in the world. We then motor along the coast while the staff explain different points of interest like; Camara de Lobos Bay – a traditional fishing village; the world famous Reid’s Hotel where Winston Churchill used to stay during his visits to Madeira Island and much more! You will be able to relax comfortably enjoy the beautiful views of the south coast of Madeira Island from our flagship vessel. Please note in July and August, we have 3 departures during the day. Our 9am departure is 2.5hour and does not stop for swimming. Please choose the correct departures if you like to swim!!

Excellent trip, dolphins, a whale and flying fish! The vessel was very comfortable and the waters were smooth.
Many passengers, but well distributed on the boat, so we remained comfortable. Dolphins found, but from far away and too quickly. No whales. Swimming near a coast: okay, that might please some people, but we paid for dolphins. Tip: since few dolphins are encountered, come early, wait in line, and position yourself at the very front of the boat...

Nous sommes toutefois désolés que l’observation des dauphins n’ait pas été à la hauteur de vos attentes. Il est important de rappeler que nous partons à la recherche d’animaux sauvages dans leur environnement naturel : leur présence, leur distance et la durée de l’observation ne peuvent malheureusement jamais être garanties. Nous faisons toujours notre maximum pour trouver les animaux et permettre à tous nos passagers de profiter de l’expérience, quelle que soit leur place à bord. Concernant la baignade, elle fait partie de certaines de nos sorties et constitue un moment apprécié par de nombreux passagers, mais nous comprenons parfaitement que votre priorité était l’observation de la faune marine. Nous espérons malgré tout avoir l’occasion de vous accueillir à nouveau et de vous offrir une rencontre avec les dauphins plus proche et plus longue. Merci encore pour votre retour.
Great experience. Crew were very good with natural history and area knowledge.
A good trip but as there are no guarantees that you will see either whales or dolphins, to catch a glimpse off a small pod was exciting but a little under whelming and the fact we could only follow the pod for 10 minutes, we saw nothing else after that. Still we had a nice morning on the boat.
Boat trip with toddler of 1.5 years was a fun experience. We were one of the first on the boat because we had to put on a life jacket to our daughter. Dolphins were a top experience! About 15 dolphins swimming with our boat. It is apparently the rule that you can not stay longer than 10 minutes with a school of dolphins in Madeira so you will not be able to see the dolphins any longer.
I really enjoyed, the staff is very nice and gave priority to my pregnant wife. They also gave information about the dolphins and whale that we've seen. They also explained some historical facts about Madeira island, very interesting. Would definitely recommend !!!
Great tour, clean boat, friendly and welcoming crew, all within schedule.
We saw a lot of dolphins (think 50) and they swam along with the boat! No whale, but this was already a very nice experience. You must be lucky, the crew also said they hadn't seen this group in 2 weeks.
