Never again!!

The trip itself was way to long, our booking agent told us 2 hrs with a bus and 2 hrs on a boat. In the end it took us two and a half hours with the bus (including driver smoking breaks along the road) and 3 1/2 hrs with the boat. The boat itself was total chaos. It stopped about 01 minutes when we left from the harbor and we we’re floating steerless in heavy waves. Our children were panicking and no-one told us what was happening. Another boat had to tow us further on the Red Sea, and after 3 and a half hrs we finally arrived at our destination. The snorkeling itself was approximately 30 minutes and yes we saw dolphins for 2 times nevertheless the girls lost half of their bikini’s when they’re pulled manually inside the boat. The same boat ran over me while I was launched for snorkeling. After lunch we were in the water and guided to some coral to make some photos which we’re sold for 20 euro’s. The boat trip back was heavier due to even heavier waves in combination with Captain “Candy Crush” wo seemed to have more attention for his phone than rather steering the boat (three other ships wo left appromiximately left 20 minutes later even passed us by). So in the end we we’re exhausted from fear from traveling for 60 minutes of snorkeling to see the dolphins who played hide and seek with the boat loads of tourists on Sataya. Never again….

Way too long of a trip there and back, 2.5 h. And that in an overcrowded minibus. And then it was pure dolphin chasing.

Too long of a trip in an overcrowded minibus, 2.5 h each way. Then 2h on the boat and then chasing dolphins.

Delphine yes but ship no.

We saw many dolphins, it was very beautiful... BUT it was only 30-45 minutes and 30-44 minutes of coral. The ship was swaying a lot because it was very windy. Every guest had to vomit and there was fear for their lives.

Great trip, but very crowded

The trip to Sataya Reef was an experience all by itself. We were reliably picked up from the JAZ Neo Reef Marsa at 5am. Hamata Port is about 3 hours away by shuttle. The Shuttel collects more tourists from other hotels along the way. The ride is already an independent experience. Through the desert with good and bad roads, small and big cities, barracks and various road controls. Once on site, we take a yacht with about 40 people out to sea. The crew was super friendly. The snorkeling equipment and life jackets are included, but already very worn. Please consider sufficient sun protection. There were some who were completely burned in the evening. The national park costs an additional €15 per person (about €13 more than for locals). The rest is the additional service fee for the organizer. The fee is paid on the boat in cash. Some people have also paid in dollars. A neoprene can be rented for an additional 10€ per person. However, the water was warm enough at the end of April. We were about 45 minutes with dolphins snorkeling. On site, about 15 - 20 other yachts have anchored. There were correspondingly many people in the water. Nevertheless, we have seen some spinner dolphins. Afterwards we had lunch on the boat on site. The food was included and really worth it. Everyone got fed up. Drinks (tea, coffee, sprite, Pepsi, water) in the 70ml cup were included. Drinks are available throughout the ride. Afterwards we could choose whether to go back to the dolphins or snorkel on the reef. We've chosen the dolphins. That was another real highlight. Significantly fewer people in the water and real schools of dolphins. Totally breathtaking. On the boat you can buy photos and videos of the day on the way back. Unfortunately, we were only on a 6 second clip on the edge, so we thankfully declined. The package costs 30 - 35€. Depending on who negotiates and pays. For others, there were significantly more shots. We recommend simply taking an actioncam with you. Definitely worth remembering. Afterwards we went back to Hamata by boat for 2.5 hours and from there we took the shuttle back to the hotel for about 3 hours. We were back around 7:30. A great trip, but a really long day.

Worth it.

Long trip on poor road to a smart boat. Extra €15 for park fees not made clear at time of booking. 2 hours to the reef. 3 boats with up to 50 people each, so it's not an intimate experience. Good lunch. It's still worth the trip to be in the water with dozens of dolphins playing, showing off, and flirting. Amazing.
