Welcome to Florence—and what a welcome it is. Your certified Florence guide meets you with the enthusiasm of someone sharing their beloved city with honored guests. This isn't just any guide; this is an expert deeply versed in Florence's Renaissance heritage, its Medici intrigue, its artistic revolutions, and its hidden treasures. Their passion is infectious, their knowledge encyclopedic, and their storytelling? Absolutely captivating. Your journey begins at the legendary Ponte Vecchio—Florence's oldest bridge and perhaps its most romantic. Built in 1345, this isn't just any bridge; it's a medieval shopping mall suspended over the Arno River, where jewelers and goldsmiths have plied their trade for centuries. The Medicis once walked a secret corridor above these shops, safely traveling from their palace to government offices without mingling with commoners below
Admire the Florence Cathedral and its complex, which includes the Baptistery and Giotto's Campanile. Collectively, these three monumental structures form part of the Historic Centre of Florence, a UNESCO World Heritage Site recognized for its profound influence on art and architecture. Visitors can immerse themselves in centuries of history, art, and culture while exploring these remarkable edifices.
Step into Florence's political heart, unchanged since the 14th century. Piazza della Signoria isn't just a beautiful square—it's an open-air sculpture gallery where art and power have always been inseparable. The imposing Palazzo Vecchio dominates one side, its medieval tower still standing guard over the city. This fortress-palace was where the Medicis ruled Florence, where Machiavelli wrote The Prince, where political intrigue shaped the Renaissance itself. The building's rough stone exterior tells of a time when even government buildings had to double as defensive strongholds. But what steals the show? The sculptures. A replica of Michelangelo's David stands exactly where the original once proclaimed Florentine independence. The Fountain of Neptune—Ammannati's controversial masterpiece—celebrates Florence's maritime ambitions. The Loggia dei Lanzi showcases bronze and marble masterpieces including Cellini's Perseus and Giambologna's Rape of the Sabine Women.
Now it’s your turn to be Florentine. In the Central Market Square we set you free—time to taste, shop, explore, and simply be in Florence at your own pace. This isn’t a tourist trap—it’s where locals buy produce, trattorias serve centuries-old recipes, and the real Florence shows itself to curious wanderers. Your choices? A fresh panino with mozzarella and prosciutto, a glass of Chianti as life passes by, handmade leather goods, ribollita, bistecca alla fiorentina, or the creamiest gelato in Italy—pistachio or stracciatella, you decide. Or just wander. Lose yourself in Renaissance streets, artisan workshops, tiny boutiques and photo-perfect corners that need no filter. Your Tuscan moment awaits—couple hours to fall in love with Florence on your own terms.
After a day filled with art, history, and breathtaking landscapes, settle in and enjoy a smooth, comfortable ride back to port. With over 20 years of expertise in cruise excursions, we master every detail—perfect timing, effortless logistics, and a guaranteed return to your ship. You won’t just leave with photos—you’ll leave with memories that stay with you long after the voyage sails on.

A group of us booked this excursion together, and it turned out to be a very enjoyable day. The pickup outside the cruise port was well organized, and the coach ride was pleasant with comfortable seating. The guide offered helpful background about Florence before giving us free time to discover the city ourselves. We visited local shops, enjoyed authentic Italian food, and spent time simply walking through the beautiful streets. Nothing felt rushed, and the timing worked perfectly for our cruise schedule. It was exactly what we were hoping for.
My partner and I wanted to experience Florence without worrying about transportation from the cruise port. The pickup process was smooth, and the coach was clean and comfortable throughout the journey. The local guide explained the city's history in an engaging and friendly way while leaving enough time for us to explore independently. We spent our free time enjoying a quiet lunch, walking through beautiful streets, and taking plenty of photos. We also appreciated knowing customer support was available if needed. It felt like a well-balanced day rather than a rushed sightseeing trip.
Out of all the ports on our cruise, Florence ended up being one of our favorites. The transportation from La Spezia was comfortable, and everything was arranged smoothly from beginning to end. The local guide shared fascinating details about Florence's history while keeping the pace comfortable for families. Afterward, we enjoyed wandering through the city center, shopping for souvenirs, and relaxing in one of the beautiful squares. Knowing there was customer support available gave us extra peace of mind. We returned to the ship with wonderful memories and plenty of photos.
This was our first visit to Florence, and traveling from La Spezia cruise port couldn't have been easier. Everything was clearly organized from pickup to the return trip. The transportation was comfortable, especially during the longer drive. Our guide introduced the city's famous landmarks while sharing local history and recommendations for places to visit during our leisure time. We enjoyed exploring the central squares and finding a small café away from the crowds. The schedule was easy to follow, and we never felt stressed about getting back to the ship. Overall, it was a relaxing and enjoyable experience.
Traveling alone can sometimes feel challenging during cruise stops, but this excursion made everything straightforward. The meeting point outside the cruise port was easy to locate, and the transportation was comfortable throughout the day. The local guide made everyone feel welcome and shared interesting information without rushing from place to place. I especially appreciated the free time because I could visit museums, enjoy a coffee, and simply walk around at my own pace. Customer support had answered my questions before departure, which helped me feel prepared. I would happily choose this experience again.
This tour was false advertising. We paid over $600 and were suppose to have a certified guide meet us in Florence. We were directed to the bus at the cruise terminal to take us to Florence. Once on the bus, we realized most people were either just paying for the transportation. When I complained to Viator after, they said they could not refund my money and issued a $60 refund. There was no guide to meet us in Florence
We regret to hear about your disappointment. Let me briefly address the concerns raised: 1 You shared transportation with fellow cruisers who had booked the self-guided option of this product. You could have done the same if you wanted to explore on your own. 2. Instead of following the self-guided party, who were exploring independently, you should have followed the very easy instructions and remained with the majority of the group, who successfully met the guide and enjoyed the guided tour. 3, Your refund request has been declined, since all services were provided exactly as advertised. Your decision to leave with the self-guided party was beyond our control and was your own choice. When booking future activities with Viator, we strongly recommend reading the easy pickup instructions provided, or at least listening more carefully to the tour coordinator during the transfer. Safe travels!
We enjoyed the day overall and liked the mix of guided and free time. The only small downside was a bit of waiting around while everyone regrouped at certain points. It didn’t ruin anything, but it did slow the pace a little. Bruges itself definitely made up for it.
As a first-time visitor, I found this tour really helpful to get oriented. The guide shared useful tips without overdoing it. I would have liked maybe a bit more time near the canals, but that’s just personal preference. Overall, a solid introduction to the city.
Bruges is stunning, but it gets crowded—especially in peak areas. The tour itself was fine, and the guide did a good job, but there’s no avoiding the busy spots. If you’re expecting something quiet and romantic the whole time, that’s not entirely realistic during the main hours.
This was a nice way to see Bruges with the family. Everything ran on schedule, and the guide handled the group well. At times it felt a bit crowded, especially in the main square, but that’s probably unavoidable. The kids enjoyed the canals and open spaces, so it worked out well.
