The tour guide never showed up. The host did respond immediately to my message and indicated that our tour showed as canceled on their end. I sent a screenshot showing it was confirmed (booked several months in advance). There was no guide available to come meet us. The host was apologetic and contacted Viator to issue our refund, which was given the next day. We suspect that we may have been the only people on the tour and they forgot to cancel us, which took away our opportunity to seek out a different tour company. This was such a disappointment for my husband, as he is a huge Knights Templar history buff and learning about Tomar and the Convent of Christ was what sparked his interest in visiting Portugal. He knew enough of the history to appreciate the Convent (and point things out to me) but of all the things that we did in Portugal, this was the only thing we didn’t want to have to change. If you opt to take this tour, make sure you confirm directly through the provider. Don’t rely on your confirmation through Viator.
Disgusting service and welcome, but disgusting is a compliment.
Our tour guide was excellent! Very knowledgeable, great pace, great English speaking. She was so friendly, kind and perfect. Excellent experience I will never forge
The history, events, and trends made experiencing the convent and castle so much more meaningful. The pace was engaging and enriching. Would strongly recommend and do future tours with Renaldo.
Ana Carolina made my visit to the Convento de Cristo memorable. Her knowledge of the Templar history and the Order of Christ is fantastic. Perfect pace, great storytelling, and genuine Enthusiasm. Highly recommend.
Very nice visit to the Convent of Christ after passing on the ramparts of the Castle. Passed through the garden from the Tourist Office is easier on foot. Visit with reduced rate for seniors.
Very good tour! Weather did not cooperate so we may have missed a little of the convent, but our guide did an excellent job giving us information and guiding us through the amazing history of this site. Very worthwhile!
Highly insightful and interesting explanation of Templar history and its manifestations in the castle. Much of the architectural symbolism is thoroughly detailed.
Tour guide did not show up. After driving 2 hours to To ar, we were left with no guide. Open roads claimed weather however it was a gorgeous day. Unreliable. Do nor count on them - you will be disappointed!
Excellent the two tours I take one City tour with Juan David , very friendly and helpful and the other to Guatapé with Stiven a dynamic person and attentive to the whole group👏👏👏👏
