This is a great experience for me and my family. We really enjoyed it would recommend.
We booked the Combination Killarney Jaunting Car Tour & Lakes of Killarney Cruise through Viator. It was a little more expensive than booking each activity separately on-site, but for the convenience and ease of having everything organized, I think it was well worth it. The tour starts at Ross Castle, which was easy to find. Parking was free and plentiful, making for a stress-free start. My only regret is not planning our timing a little better. We arrived around 2:00 p.m. for our 3:15 lake cruise and 4:15 jaunting car tour, but we had just missed the last available Ross Castle tour that fit our schedule. If touring the castle is important to you, I'd recommend planning around those tour times. We boarded the waterbus from the dock behind the castle, and it departed right on time. The one-hour cruise was beautiful! Our captain was friendly and knowledgeable, sharing a great mix of local history, wildlife facts, and interesting stories while pointing out all the highlights around the lakes. We were especially glad we booked the later afternoon cruise because the morning fog had lifted, giving us spectacular views of the mountains and some incredible photo opportunities. After the cruise, we walked to the wooden bridge to meet our jaunting car. The only hiccup of the day was figuring out which carriage was ours since there were several lined up with no obvious signage. Thankfully, everyone was helpful, and we found the right one quickly. The jaunting car tour ended up being our favorite part of the experience. Our guide, John, was charming, funny, engaging, and incredibly knowledgeable about Killarney National Park. He stopped at all the best viewpoints so we could take photos and shared fascinating stories about the area's history and landmarks along the way. And, of course, Vinny—the beautiful, well-trained horse who pulled our carriage—was an absolute star! The jaunting car ride lasted about 45 minutes through the stunning scenery of the park, bringing the total experience to around 1 hour and 45 minutes. Overall, this was a fantastic way to experience two of Killarney's must-do activities in one seamless outing. Highly recommend if you're looking for a relaxing, scenic afternoon. Thanks for the wonderful adventure!
Excellent combination of tour boat on the lake and individual tour around the park with the horses. We loved seeing all the sites. Perfect day!
This review does not relect the actual jaunting car tour nor Lakes of Killarney Cruise, which were both lovely, but the price of a single ticket. Only buy as a group or it’s twice the price, which is a ripoff. If possible, buy each tour separately on Viator, which is still marked up, or discover the actual price of both tours when you arrive is 30€ each or less, depending on the day/time. Literally walk up to each tour and pay considerably less.
Really cute, super nice, and I highly recommend this tour. It wasn't too busy! Lots of good information was shared by the guides as well!
The park is so beautiful. The boat tour is lovely--and a bit of history of the lake is shared, which was great. The jaunting cart ride is better. The driver was friendly and funny--and great at spotting wildlife as we made our way through the park. If you are also using the hop on/hop off bus to navigate the park, be mindful of the last bus time. We were grateful that the jaunting cart driver was happy to drop us off in town as the bus was no longer running.
Phenomenal experience. Don’t miss this. The scenery is breathtaking and the uniqueness of riding in the jaunty and open boat thru the lakes cannot be beat. Louise at Tagney Tours was stellar! So accommodating and helpful and exuded Irish hospitality and charm. This experience was by far the best day of our trip and it was a spectacular trip. So the bar was very high!
The Combination Killarney Jaunting Car Tour and Lakes of Killarney Cruise was an outstanding experience and one of the highlights of our trip to Ireland. The scenery throughout the tour was absolutely beautiful, the service was excellent from start to finish, and there were countless opportunities to take incredible photos along the way. The combination of the traditional jaunting car ride and the peaceful lake cruise made for a perfect way to experience the natural beauty and charm of Killarney. Everything was well organized, relaxing, and highly enjoyable.
We first took the buggy ride. Michael was enjoyable to talk to. I thought we would ride by local attractions but it was just a quick ride in the park. Next, we took the boat ride. The captain was very knowledgeable and gave good information. I thought we were going to get off at the island and be able to walk around but it was just a ride to the island and back. It was enjoyable, but I probably I should’ve read the description a little more as I thought there was more to experience.
Beautiful drive through the national park. Flowers in bloom, sunshine and rain showers, great driver , lovely horse named Christie. The boat ride was relaxing and the Narrative was interesting. narrative was very interesting. Well spoken
