The recommended starting point is at the intersection of State St. and Madison St. which is the "center" of Chicago. However, the eATLAS app on your phone will guide you to the first stop from anywhere in the city.
This self-guided walking tour is perfect for last-minute travelers who love chocolate! Travelers will use the eATLAS app for directions on where to go, and what to do--map included. You can start and pause the Adventure whenever it is convenient for you.
Chicago was once the “Candy Capital of the World,” and chocolate has been a rich, decadent part of the city’s culinary history longer than deep-dish pizza and Italian beef. Milton Hershey even learned how to make chocolate in Chicago at the 1893 World’s Fair. Some of the world’s most beloved chocolate treats, including Tootsie Rolls, Baby Ruth, Butterfinger, Snickers, 3 Musketeers and Milky Way, were invented or are manufactured here.
There are 8 delicious Loop and River North stops on our tour/scavenger hunt. Simply read the clues and follow the directions to guess the answers. Hints are provided if you need help.
You won’t be required to buy anything, but if you need a quick pick-me-up, what’s better than chocolate?

Chocolate Businesses
Only ok. The tour is seeing places where you can buy chocolate. You will walk a good portion of Chicago if you go to all the places. A few of the places were harder to find and one place had closed. Would not recommend for cold, snowy, or rainy days.

Frustrating experience
This was not what we expected. We had no idea where anything was. We tried using the map but it would not work. The app would tell us we were wrong even when we was standing in front of the building it would ask us yo find. It got to the point we gave up and just tour by ourselves. I would not recommend this tour if you are coming to visit
Operator response

Great date!
Fun date! I wasn't expecting much, but was happy with this hunt's good mix of spots and suggested treats. Some high-end, some casual, some familiar and some locations we'd never been to even after living in the city for many years. We were full and tipsy by then end!
Operator response
We’re so glad you had fun on the Chocolate Tour! We love it when we can hit that sweet spot where an Adventure is exciting for both Chicago locals and visitors. If you’re interested in some more tipsy fun, we’ve recently added two downtown Chicago Cocktail Tours. Cheers!

Must do for chocolate lovers.
Learned a little about Chicago while looking up the clues. Took us to find candy, brownies, cake and donuts. A unique experience. Lots of walking.
Operator response
Thank you so much for your kind words! We’re thrilled to hear that you enjoyed the Chocolate Tour. We hope you went home with some sweet memories (and maybe a few treats too!). If you’re interested in learning more about Chicago, you should check out our Chicago Scav Hunt. It’s tricky, and involves a LOT of walking! Happy Hunting!

A huge disappointment
I was looking to do somethng that would highlight unique chocolatiers within Chicago. This was a commercial for mass produced chocolate.
Operator response
Thank you for reaching out and taking the time to share your experience. We’re truly sorry to hear that our Chocolate Tour did not meet your expectations. We have recently reviewed and revamped the Adventure to offer a broader view of Chocolate in downtown Chicago—a mix of unique chocolatiers, big names in the current chocolate biz, and candy companies that got their start here in Chicago. Hopefully we won’t miss the mark again, in our goal of creating fun, delicious, and informative experiences.
We don’t want to leave you with such a disappointing impression of eATLAS. Please consider reaching out to us directly at adventures@playeatlas.com, so that we can make it right. Thank you.

Confusing but eventually interesting and more fun for the adults than teenagers girls
The address where you we’re supposed to start wasn’t explained well it was confusing because it a whole block not a place. No one else was there I guess we were supposed to be independent which you didn’t know. And you were supposed to download a app with a special code that was supposed to bypass you paying again but we didn’t know that. We had to call the company after being on the phone with them trying to figure it out the teenagers interests was lost.
