Description

Travel through centuries of Maya history at Chacchoben, where ancient temples and ceremonial structures still stand surrounded by tropical jungle. Walk the same grounds once used by Maya nobles, priests, and rulers as your guide brings the history, architecture, and legends of this ancient city to life. Some structures have been restored, while others remain partially hidden beneath the jungle, offering a fascinating look at a city still being studied today. Chacchoben is as much about its setting as its history. Follow trails beneath the trees, learn about native plants and tropical birds, and keep an eye on the canopy for spider monkeys that inhabit the area. Ancient Maya history, impressive architecture, and the surrounding jungle make Chacchoben one of our favorite places to visit in Costa Maya.

Amazing! The complex was very organized and we loved it!

I love to visit Mayan Ruins. This trip fit the bill! The only issue I had was locating the pick-up location. It's a tiny white kiosk across from the pyramid at the middle of the street, away from the port about 1/2 mi. It would help if you would take a pix of it and post on the location website. Guide and driver were excellent and be sure to grab pineapple on the way back. Van offers only water
