Lovely experience ending with a delicious meal. Entire experience from being picked up at the port to our return was brilliant.
Its very fun and informative! Daria's recipes were easy and delicious! We bought her cookbook to make some dishes at home.
Princess cruise shore excursion wonderful experience. Highly recommend!
Caribbean Cooking Class with Daria, Dominica - Our cooking experience with Chef Daria was so much fun. She was funny, warm, & very detailed in her explanation of all the different dishes & ingredients she had chosen for our cuisine. Even though we were a fairly large group (around 24) we were given the chance to assist her with the preparation of our delicious lunch. We would highly recommend this experience! I must also give a HUGE shoutout to Michael Eugene from Caribbean Cooking Class with Daria. Following our Cooking Class and back to our cruise ship at the port, I realized I left my small backpack (and cellphone) way up the mountain at Chef Daria's. Fortunately, I was able to contact Michael Eugene and explained about my missing backpack. He was willing to drive my pack to me at the port before we sailed. My hero!
My wife, her two adult daughters, and I spent a wonderful morning with Daria and her team, and it was easily one of the highlights of our time in Dominica. If you want to go beyond the typical tourist experience and actually experience the soul of Caribbean cuisine, this is the place to do it. The Highlights: * The Menu: We learned the secrets behind a perfect chicken curry and classic rice and beans. * Plantain Perfection: I never knew how versatile plantains could be until we prepared them three different ways! * The Atmosphere: Daria makes you feel like family the moment you walk in. The instruction was informative but laid back. * The "Spirit": Let’s just say a few shots of local rum definitely helped the morning fly by! Massive thanks to Daria and the whole crew for such a fun, educational, and delicious day. We left with full stomachs and great memories. Highly recommended for families or groups!
Daria was a hoot. Funny, warm, instructive. good with adults and with my teenage son. And her home was gorgeous. If you like cooking, this is a must do cultural experience.
One of the top highlights of our cruise! What an amazing experience! Caribbean Cooking with Daria was hands-on, flavorful, and so much fun. I was given the honor being the Sous Chef for the class. Daria’s passion for Caribbean cuisine shines through in everything she does. The dishes were full of bold, authentic flavors, and she explained each step in a way that was easy to follow. I bought the cookbook, and am excited to share the love of Caribbean cooking with family and friends.
The ride up to Daria’s place was interesting (very steep road) but once we got up there, we were amazed at how stunning the view was. Daria was passionate about her cooking and informative & very entertaining, too, as we prepared our delicious meal. I would totally recommend this excursion to anyone!
Great venue . Authentic carribbean receipts. Hands on class. We had curried marlin, beans and rice from scratch, plantains two ways and a salad. As good as any cooking experience as I have had. Just do it if you get a chance.
Our day with Cooking with Daria was truly unforgettable. The experience began when her husband picked us up from the port and drove us high into the mountains to their stunning home. There, nestled in the hills, we learned to prepare an authentic Caribbean lunch in their breathtaking outdoor kitchen, surrounded by lush tropical beauty. Daria is a wonderful teacher who seamlessly weaves together culinary instruction with fascinating stories about Dominica’s rich food culture and history. Beyond cooking, she shared her extensive knowledge of herbal medicine and took us through her thriving garden, making the experience both educational and inspiring. The setting alone is worth the visit—it felt like stepping into a dream. Before leaving, we explored Daria’s charming gift shop, which features her handcrafted spice blends, herbal teas, and her own cookbook—perfect mementos of an extraordinary day.
