Use the first day in Cape Town for a Hop-On Hop-Off bus ride that departs from the port area but has many stops. The blue line goes around Table Mountain and the red more in town. The ticket is valid for both routes for a whole day and you get access to very good and easy-going information about the city via headphones in many languages. After the bus tours it will be easier to find out what excursions you can/want to make or visits you should not neglect. The bus ticket costs relatively little compared to the selection of other activities, so it will be a good investment by the travel funds. Highly recommended! We chose the blue tour and stopped on the way for lunch at the fish restaurant in Hout…

Brilliant and insightful urban historical tour. Tour guide was fabulous. The driver was called Tom but I can’t remember her name.

I took this trip last year with this company and it was an amazing experience. I am not sure what happened however, this year my wife and I visited Cape Town and decided to take a tour on the bus. Do not get us wrong, the staff was respectful and very helpful however, the buses were filthy. Specifically, the bus we were on were crawling in roaches. Not sure if the issue was solely to that bus or if its systemic however I would not recommend taking this company until they sort out their nasty roach problem on their buses.

The Urban Safari goes into areas that the big hop n hop off bus cannot reach. The onboard guide is very knowledgeable and provides a lot of good historic information in a light hearted and sometimes humorous way. Definitely a tour worth doing.

We did the Urban Safari tour as part of the Hop On Hop Off ticket package and we're glad we did. It took us to different places than the normal bus route and Lesley, our guide, was very informative and it's always better having a live guided tour rather than a pre-recorded audio. The tour took 1 hour and we learnt a lot about the city.

We wanted to make the most of our last day in Cape Town before flying back to the UK, so booked the Urban Safari. Our guide, Leslie, was fantastic and told us so much about Cape Town's rich history. We didn't have time ( due to having to get to the airport) to hop off at any stops, but we will definitely do so when we return next year! We would highly recommend the Urban Safari to anyone!

My husband and I joined the Urban Safari tour as a time filler and man ole man was it worth it. The tour was guided by Ms. Reva who was very knowledgeable and friendly. I learned so much about Capetown from this tour that went off the beaten path. After my tour I actually had several questions that I ended up asking 2 other Urban Safari tour guides (Neil and another male guide). I was super delighted with their willingness to share and talk with me. If you are reading this you are interested. Trust me it is 💯 worth your time.
