Itinerary
We spend the first part of the tour along one of the most exciting restaurant districts of Brooklyn. Wandering up and down Smith Street in Carroll Gardens, we stop into many of the local mom and pop businesses.
- As we stroll through this picturesque neighborhood we learn how it got its name, about its history as an Italian and Irish heritage neighborhood, and how the waterfront helped transform it. We meet residents and shop owners and taste some great pastries.
This historic district features some of the most beautiful brownstones in all of Brooklyn. Feel like a local as we wander through the residential streets and beautiful parks. Admire the architecture and visit many of the mom and pop businesses in the neighborhood.
We just touch on the southern end of this historic neighborhood by walking down the main commercial street of Atlantic Avenue. Here we get a sense of how locals shop by visiting one of the legendary Middle Eastern bakeries.
At the end of the tour, you'll be lucky enough to enjoy a homemade chocolate tasting. Each bite offers a delightful burst of flavor and exquisite craftsmanship.

My mom and I decided to do this Brooklyn Food Tour on our trip just to try more local shops and walk around Brooklyn neighborhoods we had never been around before. Luckily, this tour was great for that and our tour guide, Greg, was truly awesome. It was just the two of us on the tour with Greg. He was extremely patient, cultured, and helpful. He amazed us with the number of facts he knew and pointed out a ton of additional hotspots that we should visit the next time we stop in the city. Super glad we chose this tour in specific and hope to have Greg on another tour with us again. This company has always been great to us.
My wife and I took the walking food tour of Brooklyn on July 31, 2026. Our guide, Greg, lives in Brooklyn and is definitely a proud local resident; he was an excellent guide, very knowledgeable, pleasant and informative, always willing to answer questions. He kept us on a good pace, and made sure to stop now and then in a shady spot on a hot day. Greg gave us little lectures at many stops along the way to tell us about the history and culture of the neighborhoods, from Revolutionary war times to the present. We stopped at six local food places, from delis to pizzerias to chocolate shops. At each place Greg told us about the history of the businesses, and introduced us to the owners of several of them; he seemed to be on first name terms with all of them. And the food at each place was great local fare, enough to count as a hearty lunch. This tour was terrific, better than advertised.
Sara took us off the beaten path to show us small restaurants, which were great. She also showed us other places that were not part of the tour where she needed to shop. Instead of a 3-hour walking food tour, it was an almost 4-hour tour.
Hi Eileen, Thank you for your feedback from your New York Neighbourhood Eats Tour. I'm glad to hear you enjoyed discovering some of the local restaurants with Sara. We appreciate your comments regarding the additional stops and the tour running longer than expected, and have shared them with our local team and will be reviewing it with our leaders as part of our ongoing coaching. Thank you again for taking the time to share your experience and we look forward to welcoming you on another Urban Adventure. Warm regards,
Alex was amazing! He knew the owners of the restaurants and shops and made the experience very unique. Highly recommend Alex as a guide!
Loved all the hidden shops and treats.
My family and I enjoyed the walking tour and all the food stops. Sara gave great explanations of the food. She also mixed in architecture and history along the way. An excellent eclectic tour!
We had a very informative and fun tour of Brooklyn, tasting local dishes from local shops that have been in the neighborhood from the past century. Our tour guide was Sara and she was very knowledgeable about the history and the food.
The tour was a great way to get to know the history of the neighborhoods that we travelled through including on that had been a family run place for almost 100 years. A love
Sara was so nice and so knowledgeable. We got lucky with the weather and happily ate our way through Brooklyn. We are natives but had fun like tourists. Totally recommend!
Great tour, lots of history and great food.
