Only had one day to explore Madrid, the Hop on Hop Off bus was a perfect way to see the city. There was plenty of room on the bus and the audio worked perfectly. The bus picked up around every 20 minutes so hopping off and hopping back on was easy
Hi there! Thank you for sharing your wonderful 5-star review on Viator. We are delighted to hear that our Hop-on Hop-off tour provided the perfect way to make the most of your day in Madrid! It is great to know that you enjoyed the audio guide, found the bus frequency convenient, and had a seamless experience exploring the city. We appreciate your feedback and hope to welcome you back on board on your next trip! Madalina@BigBusTours
The historic route didn’t really go by much of the historic buildings. We sat in traffic and were on busy streets.. couldn’t see much from the bus and the audio was minimal.
Don’t book this for your first day in the city, especially if coming from North America. We underestimated how tired we would be. This tour doesn’t run until midnight like hop on hop off tours in most other cities. It ends at 7:30pm, so we only got to experience a limited portion of it. The sites that we were able to see were worth it.
Hi treciamcdermott! Thank you for sharing your review with us. We're sorry to hear that your flight made you feel exhausted. On the bright side, we're delighted that you enjoyed the tour! We can't wait to see you again soon! Warm regards, Ana from Big Bus Tours.
Terrible, the modern route has only one bus and it takes more than 70 minutes. The city tour is better, while I was waiting I saw more than 4 buses pass by.
There are not enough buses. We have waited more than an hour and it never arrived. There is only one bus for the orange and blue route. It is not recommended if you are short on time. The audio guide does not have much content. We passed by several important monuments without any mention. Next time I will use another company.
It was a great way to be introduced to Madrid. We did most of all 3 routes. It was hard to know exactly where the pickup points were without the app as there were no signs at the stops. We also wish the buses had been more frequent. Once we got the app, it was easier to navigate and we could see where the individual buses were.
Hi Jolene, Thank you for sharing your experience with us! We're delighted to hear that the tour was a great introduction to Madrid and that you had the chance to explore all three routes. We also appreciate your feedback regarding the visibility of the stops and bus frequency. We understand how much easier the experience should be from the moment you start your tour, and we're glad the app helped you navigate the routes and follow the buses along the way. Thank you for exploring Madrid with us, and we hope to welcome you aboard again for another city adventure! Madalina@BigBusTours
Was a short circuit with interruptions due to street closures caused by Spain celebrating World Cup win.
I am a lover of a hop on hop off bus tour which usually is a great way to gain an initial impression of a city that helps plan the rest of your stay. Unusually we left our Madrid tour with BigBus somewhat frustrated and disappointed. It all seemed so promising when we booked and reviewed the app which looked like a really useful tool. We left early and arrived ready to get on our bus 10 minutes early only to see the back of the bus we wanted to catch disappearing into the distance. The stop detailed on the map/app was not in fact the one where you get on the bus but is 100m further down the road and nowhere anywhere on any route did we see anything that would help a customer know where the stops were. Having missed our bus that came early we then waited for 80 minutes as the next bus was 10 minutes late. Not a great start to the day. The commentary is average on the bus and the buses were v full which made sitting with your partner rather difficult. The numbers stated on the commentary and the app do not match those that appear on the map that is issued to you.The main place where the three routes start was chaos with long queues and staff who didn’t seem all that interested in helping. We wanted a blue bus to go back home and were told that it would be another 45 mins despite the fact that we could see the bus on the app only a few stops away. In the end we just got on a regular bus which worked much better. There are other tour bus companies in Madrid. I would look at them rather than BigBus if I ever wanted to repeat.
Hi! Thank you for taking the time to share your detailed feedback with us. We're very sorry to hear that your experience in Madrid did not meet your expectations. We sincerely apologize for the confusion regarding the bus stop locations, the long wait, the crowded buses, and the inconsistencies you encountered with our maps and commentary. This is not the standard of service we strive to provide. Your comments have been shared with our local Operations team, as feedback like yours is invaluable in helping us improve the experience for our guests. We appreciate your honesty and hope we'll have the opportunity to provide you with a much better experience in the future. Mihai R. @ Big Bus Tours
Not a good experience. There was a lack of communication between the organizers to find the starting point of the tour. Also, we were in time in the stadium Bernabeu station to continue our tour, but the bus wouldn't be found for 50 minutes, while we saw 3 buses of another company coming there in less than 50 minutes! However, the tour guide in the purple line of the tour was great, but I wouldn't recommend it as an option for Madrit (I should mention that the same company in Paris and Vienna, where I've also been, was incredible).
