2. Monastery of Batalha - elected one of the seven wonders of Portugal and UNESCO World Heritage. It’s one of the best examples of Gothic architecture in the country and was built as a worship gift for the victory in the Battle of Aljubarrota, one of the biggest battles in Portuguese history.
host to some of the Portuguese coast's most beautiful beaches and a fishermen villa that holds the record for the world’s largest wave that was ever surfed. Here you will break for lunch, perhaps choosing from one of the many tasty seafood restaurants (At your own expense).
After lunch, you will continue your travels along the coast towards the historic village of Óbidos. This beautiful village is situated inside the ancient medieval fortress walls of the XII century. Its narrow streets, white-painted houses, and ramparts are a vision not to be missed. Before leaving Óbidos, enjoy a sample of “Ginjinha” a cherry liquor, sipped from a chocolate cup.

We did this tour with Tomas D’Silva as our guide cum driver. We were lucky as we were the only ones and had a great time visiting Fatima first , Batalha next and then Nazare and Obidos. Tomas was exceptional both in terms of narrating the story behind each and every place as also taking care of our comfort. Each of these places were interesting and unique. Loved the experience and it’s a must do if you want to explore the surroundings outside Lisbon.
If you want to explore the surrounding countryside around Lisbon this is a marvellous tour. Tomas was an exceptional guide. We enjoyed Fatima for the serenity, Batalha Monastery for the amazing architecture, Nazare for the beautiful beach and sea and finally Obidos for the lovely walled city. Tomas gave us very good descriptions.

It’s a great way to see a few cities that are pretty close together. We had enough time in each city to see what we wanted. Alex was a terrific guide and gave us a lot of the history of each town. He was very friendly and knowledgeable.

Raphael was the best guide for this tour! We were a group of 17 people and he customized the tour for us by letting us stay longer at some points and shorter at others. He recommended an excellent restaurant for lunch and answered all of our questions! He has so much knowledge and shared it with his love of Portugal! Samir was the best driver! He was very funny and brought water for us. I highly recommend these two wonderful people!
