We knew João would be a great guide within the first five minutes! He was extremely clear, organized and knowledgeable from the very beginning. Throughout the tour he gave us an excellent overview on Portuguese history (from its beginnings to the age of exploration). At the same time he manages to point out key details on buildings, statues and landmarks. We could not recommend João enough!!
Simone was hands-down the best Tour Guide we’ve had during our trip. This was my fifth time in Portugal and I learned so much with her. She was very friendly and engaging. I love that she knew about the Catholic faith and she is a believer. I’ve had Taurus at other religious sites of people that shame Catholicism or simply do not know much about it so she is definitely a great value especially when going to religious sites. 10/10 recommend. She was able to speak in Spanish and English to my family.
Simone was incredible!! Very knowledgeable and learned about Portuguese history!! Absolutely recommend her for this tour!
Luis is an excellent guide, friendly and knowledgeable in explaining and illustrating the unique features of the Jerónimos Monastery, the Church of Our Lady of Belém, and the Monument to the Discoveries. Very good at speaking Italian.
The only way to understand the Jerónimos Monastery is with a guide; otherwise, given the lack of any type of explanatory signage, even the €20 ticket would be money wasted. The Manueline-style monastery is a jewel nonetheless. Luis, our guide, was an added value; knowledgeable and very friendly, he illustrated not only the monastery but also the Belém district, with its monuments and its unmistakable pastéis.
I was on the fence about whether to go to Jeronimos on my own, and decided to book bc I was in Lisbon so briefly and wanted the pressure of a set meeting time rather than the freedom to succumb to jet lag. But this short tour ended up being possibly my favorite in Lisbon! João was so incredibly informative and charming, and going with a group really saves time as you can get into the group entrance both at Jeronimos and in getting to try a Pastel de Belem (included in the tour) via group ordering! I'm afraid I inadvertently gave João some trouble -- some children pushed in front me of as our group was leaving the bakery, and as they walked slowly and I didn't really want to push through them in return, I got separated from our group. Which was fine; Belem is safe and I'm an adult with a phone and a credit card. But of all the tours I booked, João's group was the only one to have proactively connected with me on WhatsApp before the tour, so he called me on WhatsApp and was able to retrieve me. Which is to say, not only is João a fine guide, I found Portugal, Me and You an unusually responsible and responsive tour provider. The main hesitation I had before booking is that I'm the sort of person who likes to take my time looking at things, and I'll often go back to admire bits I'm particularly struck by. While I might have spent more time by myself (and not just in line!), I did not feel rushed by this tour. João also added a different set of info than the bits I'd obtained myself. A++! Ofc it's a bit more than you'd pay for your own ticket and a pastry, but IMO a very worthwhile use of your travel budget!
It was a pleasant experience with an excellent guide. It was tireless. Maria Aldina made us a guided visit in French, Spanish and Portuguese. Always with good disposition and patience, answering all our questions. Thank you ❤️
Joao gave us an incredible tour today! We learned so much including the history & knowledge of the monastery, church, Belem Tower & more! From the kingdoms to the architecture to the explorers. Thank you so much Joao for an incredible tour!!!
We visited the Jeronimos Monastery cloister and the adjacent areas. We were accompanied by Stefano, a person of extraordinary culture, friendliness, and helpfulness. ! The pastel de Belem is excellent. Absolutely recommended
We had an excellent time during this walking tour of Belém. Dee is an adorable, passionate, and fascinating guide. She helped us discover the must-sees of Belém while sharing little stories and details that we would never have discovered on our own. Special mention to the famous Pastéis de Belém, true little wonders! A big thank you to Dee for her kindness, her good humor, and all her valuable advice. A tour that we highly recommend!
