**Absolutely Worth the Entrance Fee — Especially Early in the Morning** As an influencer, I have to admit that I am never particularly enthusiastic about paying for things! 😄 But in this case, the **300 Thai baht entrance fee was an absolute bargain**. What you are paying for is not simply the opportunity to see the famous Reclining Buddha. Wat Pho is an expansive and remarkably beautiful temple complex where you can easily spend quite some time exploring. My strongest recommendation is to **arrive as early as possible**. I went around opening time and headed straight for the Reclining Buddha. Being there while it was still quiet, peaceful and relatively empty made an enormous difference. You can take your time walking alongside this magnificent golden Buddha, stop to appreciate the details and take plenty of photographs without constantly fighting through crowds. Afterwards, give yourself time to explore the rest of Wat Pho. There is far more here than many visitors probably realise. You can wander through the grounds, enter several of the buildings, admire the Buddha images and photograph the beautifully decorated chedis throughout the complex. It is a very pleasant place simply to walk around slowly and absorb the atmosphere rather than treating it as a quick sightseeing stop. Wat Pho is also famous for traditional Thai massage, and there is a massage facility within the complex if you would like to experience one while visiting. Just be aware that the prices are considerably higher — roughly double what you might expect to pay at many ordinary massage shops elsewhere in Bangkok. My suggestion would be to make a complete circuit of the temple grounds and then, **before leaving, return to the Reclining Buddha one last time**. By then it may already be noticeably busier, which also makes you appreciate just how worthwhile that early start was. The enormous golden Reclining Buddha is certainly the star attraction, but for me the whole Wat Pho experience made the entrance fee worthwhile. The architecture, chedis, temples, courtyards and peaceful early-morning atmosphere turn this into much more than simply walking in, photographing one famous Buddha and leaving. **Go early, take your time, explore the entire complex, and then say one final goodbye to the Reclining Buddha on your way out.** For 300 baht, I thought this was excellent value.
We’re glad you enjoyed the early start—arriving quietly allows for a deeper connection with the Reclining Buddha’s details and fewer crowds, which we always aim to preserve for guests. Exploring Wat Pho’s quieter moments beyond the main attraction helps visitors discover hidden gems like its lesser-known chedis and serene courtyards. It’s rewarding to hear when our approach lets travelers savor both the iconic highlights and the temple’s peaceful atmosphere at once.
Ohm was very sweet. We’re the only 2 in the group this afternoon and we’d both forgotten sunglasses. He took us around until we found the sunglasses we wanted. Also didn’t mind if we stopped off and waited for a fresh fruit smoothy to be made. I offered to buy him one but he declined. Suggested meal (T & K Seafood) for dinner near where we stayed (Chinatown) and it was excellent. Ohm has a thick accent but if you stop and listen carefully you can understand for the most part. He didn't mind repeating himself. Overall it was a great tour (again there was only 2 of us). Genuine lovely Thai gentleman.
Teresa, we’re glad Ohm’s sweet demeanor and flexibility with the fruit smoothy stop made your Bangkok Temple Walking Tour enjoyable—it’s those small touches that make experiences special. Your feedback about his recommendations, like T & K Seafood, highlights how valuable his local insights were. We’re thrilled to have contributed to such a positive adventure!
