Skip this tour. Terrible experience.

I am riding on the tour bus back from Segovia as I write this. This was the worst tour that I have ever taken. We would like a refund. For anyone considering, skip it! Let me share that I have been on countless tours in my 30+ years of traveling as an adult, and most are decent to good. Here is my feedback to improve the experience: 1) the tour did not provide any time for us to take photos or walk around on our own (not even five minutes). If you paused for a photo, you’d fall behind and risk losing the group. 2) the pace is too fast and the tour covers too much. It should either eliminate Avila entirely or extend the trip to provide people with ten to fifteen minutes in the key sites to take a break or take photos. 3) the tour guide droned on incessantly for 5+ hours. He never paused the commentary. Instead of hitting key points and giving us some moments of silence, he just continued to talk. 4) he talked too fast, his accent was thick and his English was OK. It was hard to understand all that he said in English. 5) very little to no information was provided about logistics - eg., how long will we be somewhere, will we be able to use bathrooms, etc. When I asked these types of logistical questions, Luis looked annoyed and was somewhat dismissive. He seemed too busy talking about Philip II to answer my basic questions. 6) It started to thunder and rain while we walked through Segovia. Neither guide seemed in a hurry to get us to shelter. Finally, after we all got wet, they led us into a ticket building. Rain happens - it was the lack of empathy given the thunderstorm and lack of organization that was disappointing. 7) there was no time to buy a souvenir or grab a quick snack. I don’t want much time for these things, but five minutes would be nice. 8) there’s no WiFi on the bus even though they said there would be. I could continue, but will stop.

Loads of information and great sites

My wife and I loved both sites. Maria was very knowledgeable and shred that with the group. Our only issue was not enough time for pictures. In order to fit in all the information, Maria kept the group moving. So pluses and minuses there. I still recommend the tour as the bus amenities were great. Comfortable with good air conditioning. Our driver was great also. Due to the distance, we would not have seen those two sites without this tour

Love to Maria

The sun was beating down, I was sweating but Maria didn’t skip a beat and kept us on track. A rock star of tour guides for sure. If there was more time I would probably recommend to friends to do Segovia as its own day trip to fully explore all the shops and restaurants more. With our tight schedule I liked this timeline and beyond able to fit it all in

Great guide, when we could hear him

The people were all great, cheerful and knowledgeable. The tour would have been five stars easily, except for the terrible audio system. We were each given small radio recievers to listen to the guide's descriptions. But the volume was painfully loud and distorted, even when set to the minimum on the receiver. The loud distortions made much of the talk unintelligible. Furthermore, when we were further than about four meters from the guide, the signal dropped out completely and the radio went totally silent. When I was able to stand close to the guide and remove my headphones, the descriptions were great, which made it even more frustrating that I was only able to hear around 20 or 30 percent of what was said, because I wasn't always able to stay so close to the guide. I have been on many tours with these sorts of audio systems, and they always worked well, except for the two tours I took this week with Fun & Tickets. They have hired great guides, but provided them with lousy audio equipment.

Operator response

Dear Richard, We are glad to hear that your guides were great. We are sorry to read again about this unusual issue with the audio equipment. Our guides have many spare ones with them. In future tours, we kindly encourage you to please ask them to provide you with a replacement if needed. They will be more than happy to assist you. We apologize for not having met your expectations. Best regards, Fun and Tickets Team

Luis did a great job. He...

Luis did a great job. He seemed very passionate about the history of the two sites and it came through his narration.

Great day trip

Great day with Frederico exploring Segovia and Avila, the history, the culture, the stories.. The amazing aqueduct of Segovia and the huge intact walls encircling the historic centre of Avila. Frederico shared lots interesting information about these two beautiful towns and their histories. We travelled in a cool, comfortable, clean bus - very welcome on a warm August day.
