Aveiro and Costa Nova Half Day Tour from Porto with Boat Ride

Description
This tour takes you to Aveiro considered by many as the "Venice of Portugal" which is famous for its large network of canals running through the city. In this Tour you will also take a cruise on a "moliceiro" boat (a traditional boat from this city) which will take you along the channels as you admire the city’s unique tile facades. You will also have the opportunity to see the colorful houses in Costa Nova. Aveiro has a rich and varied gastronomy, and the “soft eggs” - a very sweet desert are also one the main representations of Aveiro.

Itinerary
Your expert guide will collect you from the meeting point and will drive you to Aveiro and Costa Nova. On your way to Aveiro, the guide will give you insights regarding the Portuguese history, development and cultural facts of portuguese heritage.
The capital of the Ria, a vast lagoon where the freshwater of the River Vouga joins with the sea, Aveiro is intersected by canals, genuine streets of water, along which can be seen gliding the brightly coloured boats known as barcos moliceiros. Originally founded in the time of the Roman Emperor Marcus Aurelius, Aveiro is now one of the most interesting cities on the Portuguese coast. Discover the history of this beautiful city and tasty the traditional pastry, "Ovos Moles".
Cruise Aveiro's dazzling canals on a classic Moliceiro (traditional boat) Relax and enjoy the landscape on this traditional boat, that once was used to collect seagrass in the lagoon.
The last stop is Costa Nova do Prado beach, famous only by the name Costa Nova. The most picturesque aspect of Costa Nova is its coast road along which a line of wooden huts is painted in brightly coloured stripes alternating with white. Built by fishermen as shelters and equipment stores, the huts have now been converted into rather characteristic holiday homes.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ An unforgettable Aveiro & Costa Nova experience! We had an absolutely wonderful tour of Aveiro and Costa Nova, and a huge part of what made the day so special was Cuber and George, our fantastic tour guide and driver. From the very beginning, they were incredibly friendly, warm, helpful and welcoming, making us feel completely comfortable and looked after throughout the entire day. Their knowledge of Porto, Aveiro and the surrounding region was outstanding — they shared so many interesting stories, local insights and details that we would never have discovered on our own. What really stood out, though, was their genuine warmth and enthusiasm. It never felt like we were simply being taken from one tourist attraction to another; it felt like we were exploring this beautiful part of Portugal with two people who truly love the area and enjoy sharing it with visitors. Aveiro and colourful Costa Nova were beautiful, but Cuber and George made the experience unforgettable. Thank you both for such a wonderful day, your kindness, your humour and your amazing hospitality. We couldn't recommend them highly enough. Five stars without hesitation! 🇵🇹❤️
There were some interesting sites but it was a lot of bus time for very little time at the two sites visited. Needs more time on the sites.
Our guide Phillip was very informative, kind and pleasant. Lovely half day tour, worth every penny!
Great time! Filipe was excellent and very thoughtful.
This was a lovely way to spend the afternoon. Henk was an excellent tour guide and Costa Nova and Aveiro are gorgeous little towns
It was just as descibed. They were very prompt, so don’t be late. Starbucks across the street from pick up point. You need to try and partner with Starbucks and get them to open at 7:30 so people have time for coffee.
A morning excursion, of 4 hours. The best part was the guide, the worst part was the 2 hours of travel time round trip, which leaves little time for visiting.
