Jonathon Hart Local Guide·8 reviews·4 photos 4 days ago New My wife and I did the Madrid Market Tour and had a wonderful time! We were lucky to be escorted around by our guide Alberto. What a wonderful human. He was warm, engaging and quite knowledgeable. Honestly, spending the morning with him felt like reuniting with an old friend. First he took us to the San Miguel market, a bustling indoor food court with seemingly endless array of local food and drinks. Alberto got us started with some vermouth and olives. Incredible. Changed my opinions about vermouth. He explained the history of the market as well as some of the green and red flags to look out for when shopping across Madrid. Next, Alberto led us through some beautiful Madrid streets and alleyways until we arrived at Mercado de le Cebada. This was more of a trqditional locals grocery market. Lots of fresh produce, meat, fish and specialty shops. We even stopped for Gelato. Afterwards, we lounged outside and enjoyed some tapas. We snacked and sipped some "tinto de verano", my new favorite thing, while we chatted about everything from the best vintage clothes stores to the highly debated views on onions in tortilla. Honestly, a delightful way to spend a morning. We left with full stomachs and a wealth of knowledge and felt like we made a local friend. Highly recommended!!
Our guide Circe was wonderful, as were the tapas bars she took us to. She made a point learning everyone’s names and encouraging everyone to chat and get to know each other. Lots of socializing, eating, imbibing, and laughter. The food was delicious and the evening joy-filled. I highly recommend
It was a really fun tour. Sirsa was a really good guide. She had a lot of information and shared it in a really enthusiastic way. We met al lot of nice people. We would really advise this tour!
Had the BEST experience with Alberto leading us through local food gems!! Amazing, it was the highlight of our trip to Madrid. Good vibes, good food with good people.
Our last night in Madrid. A very nice way to enjoy good food and good company!
We love food! And we do not love the hustle-bustle of busy tourist areas. This neighborhood tapas walk sounded great, still my culinary-focused husband was skeptical we would find delicious food on a tour. We were both truly impressed by all the places Joanna took us to and by all the tapas and drinks we had! Each bite and sip was delicious! We are taking our friends to the same soots tonight to introduce them to the great food! Also, we had an excellent evening meeting the other people we were with, who had so much in common with us! I am so glad I found this tour!
Alberto was fantastic! Not only did he go out of his way to make us feel comfortable, he made sure to connect with everyone. We did have a smaller group, and Alberto still made it feel special. He chose excellent tapas locations that were unique, fun, and historic. I would highly recommend that anyone visiting Madrid go on this tour and request Alberto! Thank you!
Excellent tour. Great high quality food and drink sersa was excellent. Not touristy just as advertised.
Very good, clean and organized places, good food
So great!! Lots of great food and drinks, and substitutions were offered for literally everything if there was something that a person didn't like. We all enjoyed Alberto's kind, funny, and accommodating presence!
