Amsterdam's Countryside Half-Day Bike Tour in Small Group

Description
We are proud to be Amsterdam's smallest bike tour company! The number of participants per group is limited and we guarantee you to be in a group of no more then 12 persons. This ensures a fun, safe and high quality bike tour. Our countryside bike tour (total distance: 30 km / 18 miles) is a great break away from the city. On this leisurely bike ride you will learn about the Dutch history and our on going battle agains the water. The beautiful landscapes lay below sea level which you will see with your own eyes while riding your bike over the embankments that keep our feet dry. We'll be passing picturesque farmers and fishermen villages and see the big five of Holland on this Dutch safari. (cows, cows, cows, cows, cows) ;) Halfway through the tour we enjoy a relaxing break to hydrate and taste the world's best slice of apple pie in the picturesque village of Holysloot. This is the perfect fuel to keep us going and head to our favourite windmill in the region: a monument from 1792!

Itinerary
This tour takes place in the Waterland region, north from Amsterdam. Hop on and ride your bike through this gorgeous area of the typical polder landscapes and farmlands below sea level.
Ride your bike through old fishermen villages and learn about water management and how the Dutch manage to live below sea level.
We are halfway through the tour when we arrive in Holysloot, a tiny farmer's village in the middle of the countryside. Time for a break at the love restaurant 'het Schoolhuis', in the former school of the village. The apple pie served here is world famous in the area and great fuel for the rest of our tour!
You will learn about the interesting history of the 80-years war between Holland and Spain and see the tower of Ransdorp, the oldest building in the area.
What would a countryside tour in Holland be without seeing a windmill? Indeed! At the end of our tour you will pass by this gorgeous windmill from 1792 and learn about the old mill industry of Holland.

We had an incredible bike ride through the countryside. It was pouring with rain when we started but we were equipped with our ponchos and set off in the wet weather. The Amsterdam Countryside is breathtaking and the recommended apple pie is not too be missed. The sun came up, we dried up nicely and enjoyed riding through the different villages and learning about the history. We would fully recommend doing this and we hope to be back one day to do the city tour. The D's from Zimbabwe
Bike ride was great. Tour guide was very friendly. I’m sorry I cannot remember her name. We stopped in the countryside for apple pie (more like cake) Delicious!!! Ride is very easy - very little city riding. Would recommend.
Trey was very informative and full of fun facts . He knew a lot about the local History as well . I would definitely revolt his to friends and family .
Trey made the ride so much fun . He educated us with the local History and fun facts . I would definitely book again and recommend this to friends .
My wife and I really enjoyed our bike ride through the countryside north of Amsterdam Our guide, Trey, was patient — and funny. The apple pie was delicious and the Rembrandt connection was an unexpected pleasure.
Our trip was great from start to finish. All of the staff so friendly and helpful. Trey was an amazing guide! Amsterdam can be a bit daunting for a not-so-experienced cyclist, but he helped us safely make our way. We made new friends, even for just four hours! The views were beautiful … and the apple pie delicious!
Great fun with a great guide. Easy ride to suit all ages
Hi! Thank you for your lovely review; it makes us really proud to know that you had a great experience. All the best, Thijs
Very fun experience. About 30km of easy cycling through the countryside with a friendly and knowledgeable guide. Exactly how they described and would highly recommend if interested in seeing a bit of the countryside on your trip.
Astrid did a great job of leading our group onto a ferry and out of the city into the beautiful and peaceful countryside. She shared lots of information and answered all other questions with humour and enthusiasm with a good pace and number of stops. Loved the apple pie stop and lovely chats with fellow group members. Highly recommended.
We had a wonderful time on our private countryside half day tour. Our kid, age 6, loved riding in the cargo bike. We saw so much of the landscape and learned a lot from our guide. The ride was highlight of our trip to Amsterdam!
