Itinerary
The mysterious Catacombs of Kom el Shoqafa in Alexandria were discovered a little more than a hundred years ago when a donkey disappeared into a hole in the earth. What was uncovered was a complex of 3 story underground catacomb. While the upper floor is pretty bare from design the middle floor has a unique tomb that combines Egyptian, Greek, and Roman iconography.
A massive 30m column looms over the debris of the glorious ancient settlement of Rhakotis, the original township from which Alexandria grew. Known as Pompey’s Pillar, for centuries the column, hewn from red Aswan granite, has been one of the city’s prime sights: a single, tapered shaft, 2.7m at its base and capped by a fine Corinthian capital. The column rises out of the sparse ruins of the Temple of Serapeum, a magnificent structure that stood here in ancient times.
It's a 15th century Islamic fortress built to protect the city from invading Crusaders. The Qaitbay Citadel is located on the northeast part of Pharos Island, on the exact spot that was once home to the famous lighthouse of Alexandra. The Citadel was original established by Sultan Al-Ashraf Sayf al-Din Qa’it Bay in 1544 as a fortress..
The Bibliotheca Alexandrina, also known as the New Library of Alexandria is located very close to where the original Royal Library of Alexandria once stood before being totally destroyed. The new library is without question a fitting tribute to what was once the world’s most valuable library.

Last minute trip to Alexandria—great driver, knowledgeable guide Mustafa, and perfect itinerary. Driver was punctual, courteous, and made the journey comfortable and enjoyable
We visited Alexandria on a day tour from Cairo and had an amazing experience. The tour covers all important historic sites in the city making sure you don't miss out on anything. Our tour guide, Mustafa gave us valuable information about all the sites we visited. We had no hassle or any issues anywhere, everything was well taken care of by the group. The lunch organized was also excellent. The food was delicious, and the restaurant offered great views of the Mediterranean Sea.

Alexandria is a place full of history and cultural heritage. The seafood recommended by the CGT Egypt Tours was absolutely amazing. The tour guide Mustafa and Mohammed the driver took care of us since the beginning of the tour. From the day I booked it till the last day of the tour, everything was amazing. The driver Mohammed was very professional and punctual and the guide Mustafa was very sweet and helpful at all the sightseeing places. He explained us very nicely about the places we visited. We could not take Luxor and Asfan due to our tight schedule but whenever I come next time, I'd make sure I book them, God-Willing.

Alexandria Day Tour was an excellent experience! We stopped for some snacks and coffee first. Then we visited the Catacombs of Kom El Shoqafa, then pictures by the Roman Pillar, pictures by the seashore, visit to Citadel of Qaitbey, lunch at a seafood restaurant and ended the tour with a visit to the Alexandria Library. Will have to say the library was definitely my favorite part of the visit. The tour went as planned and pick up and drop off were prompt!

The guide and the driver picked us up at the hotel in the morning and we drove to Alexandria. The drive took 2.5 hours approximately and was very comfortable. The guide is very flexible to our wishes. The tour of Alexandria was very well organized - the library of alexandria was my favourite. Would recommend taking this one day tour if you are in Kairo.
