Itinerary
We travel along the beautiful Eyjafjörður fjord on our way to Goðafoss waterfall, with scenic mountain and ocean views along the route. Goðafoss, known as the “Waterfall of the Gods”, is one of Iceland’s most famous waterfalls and an important historical site connected to Iceland’s conversion to Christianity around the year 1000. You will have time to enjoy different viewpoints, take photos and experience the power and beauty of this impressive waterfall.
Step back in time at the historic Laufás Turf Houses, one of North Iceland’s best - preserved traditional Icelandic homes. This unique heritage site offers a glimpse into how Icelanders lived centuries ago in turf -built houses designed to protect against Iceland’s harsh climate. During your visit, local museum staff dressed in traditional Icelandic clothing will welcome you and share stories about daily life, history and old Icelandic traditions. Surrounded by beautiful North Iceland scenery, this authentic place offers a special look into Iceland’s past.
Relax at Forest Lagoon, one of North Iceland’s most beautiful geothermal spas, located by the Eyjafjörður fjord and surrounded by peaceful nature and trees. Enjoy warm geothermal waters with stunning views over the fjord, mountains and Akureyri town. During your visit, you can also experience the sauna, try the cold water plunge for a refreshing contrast, or simply relax in the peaceful atmosphere. Forest Lagoon also offers a swim-up bar and a cozy restaurant where you can enjoy drinks or food with beautiful panoramic views.
If you love Christmas, you will love this magical place. The Christmas House is open all year round and looks colorful, cozy and unique, like something from a fairytale. In the tower, you can find one of the world’s largest Advent calendars, while the garden is home to tiny elf houses and other charming surprises. Inside, you can discover Christmas decorations, sweets, gifts and even try traditional Icelandic smoked lamb. But hidden in the basement is the cave of Grýla - Iceland’s famous troll mother and mother of the 13 Yule Lads, waiting in her dark cave for curious visitors. A magical place for both children and adults.

It was an amazing expierence to explore Iceland with Johanna. She is an incredible person - very kind and helpful. During the tour she shared interesting, ver detailed informations about icelandic history, geography, culture and legends. We visited Godafoss, Christmas Village. On the way we explored beauty of nature in this incredible country. We finished the tour in the Blue Lagoon. Booking this tour with Joanna it was the best decision. We came back with hundreds of picture, forever memories and I hope plans for future tours. Obviously only with the perfect guide - Johanna
Thank you so much for your beautiful review, Joanna. It means even more to me knowing that, after all this time, you still wanted to share your experience. Thank you for your kind words and for trusting me with your Iceland adventure. It was a real pleasure meeting you both, and I hope our paths cross again one day. :)
We were lucky to snatch a couple of last-minute spots walking off the boat for this amazing private tour with Joanna. She was very enthusiastic, knowledgeable, kind, and very considerate in wanting to give us an excellent experience. She did!! As time permitted we made a few extra suggested stops. She even brought some props! She obviously loves her beautiful country, her business, people, and it shows! Thank you for the great time, Joanna! Wishing you the best!
Thank you so much, Robyn! I'm so glad you decided to join me, and it was such a fun day. Your kind words truly made me smile. Wishing you many more amazing travels!
We had an excellent tour over 6 hours with Joanna and cannot recommend her highly enough. Not only did she give a great tour but gave a lot of information about the various sites and left us feeling we had seen as much of the highlights of Akureyri as there were to see. So much better in our small group of 6 than anything we could have booked with our cruise line and significantly better value! Joanna drove carefully and kept to the time we needed to be back at the ship. I recommend Joanna without hesitation and booking with her, you will not be disappointed. 5 Stars all the way in every respect.
Thank you so much for your beautiful review. It really means a lot to me. I'm so happy you enjoyed your day in North Iceland. It was a pleasure to meet you and spend the day with you. I hope to see you again one day. Take care! :)
