What a fabulous cooking class this is. We had purchased a tagine on a previous visit to Morocco but have never used it so we booked on to learn how to make a traditional tagine and this experience didn’t disappoint! We were greeted by Ussama who took us to the local market. Here we got an informative guide on how to shop at a ‘locals’ market and even purchased some delicious pastries alongside our veggies and herbs for the class. We then returned and met our chef for the day. She was fantastic, spoke very good English and talked us through each step of the recipe. There was three of us on the course which was ideal as we could all make an individual tagine. Whilst it cooked we walked around the artisan market then returned to eat our delicious food together. We really enjoyed our time here and would definitely recommend this class.
Thank you so much for your wonderful and detailed review. We are delighted to hear that you had such a fantastic time during your cooking class in Agadir and that the experience met your expectations. Learning how to prepare a traditional Moroccan tagine while exploring the local market is a special way to discover our culture. It’s great to know that Ussama and our chef made your day enjoyable with their guidance, knowledge, and warm hospitality. We’re also happy you had the chance to create your own tagine and enjoy it together after visiting the artisan market. Thank you for your recommendation, and we hope to welcome you again for more authentic experiences in Morocco with Agadir Journey Tour
This was a great experience. We were a group of four friends joined by another couple for the trip. We enjoyed the visit to the local market with Imran to buy the vegetables - it was good to see the local area and the array of veg available ! Our chef /teacher was knowledgeable and very friendly and involved everybody in the preparation of the tagines. We then had a break whilst the food was cooking to browse around the shops in the artisan centre before we sat down together to eat our delicious chicken and veg tagines. Would recommend!
Dear Jan Thank you so much for your wonderful feedback! We’re delighted to hear that you and your friends enjoyed the full experience — from the visit to the local market with Imran, to learning and preparing the tagines with our chef. It’s great to know that everyone felt involved and that you enjoyed the break exploring the artisan centre before tasting the delicious tagines you prepared together. We truly appreciate your recommendation and hope to welcome you back for another memorable experience in Agadir! Warm regards Agadir Journey Team
Shop for vegetables and spices, learn to make Tagine, and while it cooks wander an artisan market. Lots of different shops with beautiful products and friendly shop keepers. Fun and entertaining, wonderful people.
It was a wonderful experience, after this trip you can definitely make a tagine yourself. It was magical to be with a Berber family. Good explanation of the culture and customs of the population. I recommend it to everyone.
Thank you very much Nimas for your wonderful words! We are glad you enjoyed the experience so much and that you can now even make a tagine yourself! It is great to hear that the visit to the Berber family was magical and that you got to know the culture and customs better. Thank you for your recommendation - we hope to welcome you again in the future Agadir Journey Team
This class was fantastic! We enjoyed getting to walk to the local market to buy ingredients for our meal. The true star of the show was Selma, our cooking instructor. She made us feel so welcome and was an excellent teacher. She, by far, made the experience as special as it was. We definitely recommend trying this cooking class out.
The photos and reviews shown are not related to this tour. We had a good day, but it was not a cooking class and it was not what we paid for. It was an 8 hour day. We drove to a souk and watched the guide buy vegetables. Then we drove 11/2 hours to a Berber village and sat in a local house which was interesting to see. We were served Moroccan tea and flat breads. We peeled one or two vegetables each. Then a women took the vegetables away and came back with the tagine prepared to show us. While it was cooking we walked to the small mosque nearby. We were given a piece of dough to make into a round shape which was put in the fire and we watched it cook. Then we ate the tagine. We didn’t cook anything. The guide was charismatic and a good advocate for Morocco. It was an interesting experience but not what we paid for.
I can definitely recommend this course if you’re looking for something that is not as “touristy”, and more local and authentic. Many other activities we have been on in Agadir have seemed a bit like tourist traps. The day starts with a guided trip to the local market. Unlike the larger markets in Agadir, this is where locals actually shop, so the vendors aren’t luring you into the shops and the prices are not as exaggerated as other places. This was a nice change. We bought some vegetables and herbs that would be used later. After the market, we went back to cook our meal. The cooking happens in the back of a restaurant, that had a nice family vibe to it. Everybody was very friendly and ensured we enjoyed ourselves. The cooking was guided by Fatima, and she provided tips for how to make the most of the tagine. Then we prepared some tea, before taking a walk in the complex that also houses some shops, while the tagine was cooking. Lastly we got to enjoy our meal in the Kasbat Sousa complex. Fatima gave us a mix of spices used for the cooking, so we could use them when we got home. All in all it was a really good activity. We were picked up at 10:30, ate around 12:45 and arrived back at the hotel at 14:00.
It was an exciting experience Thanks to the excellent guide I experienced the real Morocco The village deserves all the wonderful road with its red mountains. Grocery shopping in a real souk, cooking with locals inside their home ... is priceless!! I bring home the taste and emotion of this beautiful country Highly recommended
I cannot recommend this trip enough. It was one of the best experiences I have done in Agadir. It was a small intimate group and we got to shop at a locals souk for the ingredients, then we went back to the kitchen and Fatima showed up how to prep and make our tagine dish. She also showed us how to make an omelette (which was spectacular!) and Moroccan mint tea. It was an authentic experience that was truly enjoyable. I got a WhatsApp the day before to confirm pick up time and the taxi was bang on time for collection. We got to eat out tagine for lunch and it was phenomenal and we weren’t rushed out, we got to leave at our own pace. I really would urge anyone to book this trip, fantastic value for money and an absolute highlight of my trip to Agadir. Thank you!
