I planned my 7-day Kenya safari during the low season mainly to fit my budget, and honestly, it turned out to be one of the best decisions I’ve made. From the start, everything felt smooth and well organized. The parks were less crowded, which made the whole experience feel more personal and relaxed. In Maasai Mara, we had incredible game drives without rushing from one sighting to another. Seeing lions up close and watching elephants move quietly across the plains with barely any other vehicles around was something special. Lake Naivasha was a nice break in between calm, scenic, and a chance to slow things down a bit. The boat ride there was peaceful, with hippos and birds all around. Then Amboseli gave us those beautiful views of Mount Kilimanjaro, especially early in the morning something I won’t forget. Our driver-guide was knowledgeable, patient, and genuinely passionate about wildlife. You could tell he wanted us to have the best experience possible. Going in low season didn’t take away anything — in fact, it added more value. Better prices, fewer crowds, and still amazing wildlife sightings. If you’re thinking about a Kenya safari but worried about budget, I’d definitely recommend going in the low season. It was worth every moment.

Maasai Mara stole our hearts though. One afternoon, George found a leopard lounging high in a tree, tail flicking lazily, we watched it for ages as the light turned everything golden.
