Those who choose not to do the walk can sit in provided shaded area. Those who choose to continue to the next gorge will have the opportunity to see ancient rock art between the first and second gorge during their walk.

Marvel at the sheer rock face walls as the scenery becomes more striking as you head further into the Gorge. Don’t miss the 2nd gorge!

It’s the absolute best way to experience the gorge. We did the 2 gorge cruise and the walk between gorges was paved and easy. I recommend not missing the second gorge. We also did the short walk after the cruise. There was not much to see after the lookout and we may have started a little too late because it was very hot. Take plenty of water, sunscreen and a hat if you plan to walk.

2 hour tour Not like Gilligans Island

Nice easy walk from the car park to the boat, if you do the 2 gorge cruise you have to get off 1 boat and walk about 500 mts over good and bad paths. Picture was from our helicoptor flight the day after, even more spectacular from up there.

2 gorge boat cruise

Was well organised, friendly staff and very informative. Easy walk between gorges to swap boat. Light lunch after at Cafe was nice.

Operator response

Thank you, Karen, for sharing your experience! We’re so pleased to hear you enjoyed your Two Gorge Cruise and found the experience well organised, informative and welcoming. The walk between the gorges is a special part of the journey, giving you the chance to take in the landscape before boarding the second boat, so it’s great to know everything went smoothly. And finishing the experience with a light lunch at the Nitmiluk Café sounds like a lovely way to round off your visit! Thank you for visiting us, and we hope to welcome you back to Jawoyn Country again in the future. Nitmiluk Tours Team

Highlight of our NT trip

This was the absolute highlight of our NT trip. We did the 7am Nitmiluk Gorge tour and it was the perfect way to experience the gorge. The early morning light was beautiful, and we were lucky enough to see an amazing variety of birdlife and a freshwater croc along the way. The tour was made even more special by our phenomenal guide, who was born and bred in Katherine. His knowledge of the area, its history, culture and stories was second to none. He made the experience truly unforgettable. Highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting the NT 🌅

This is such a wonderful opportunity to see the best Australia has to offer. Gorges, rock art, crocodiles, and millions of years of history. The indigenous tour guide was so knowledgeable and helpful in educating us about this amazing country. You will not regret doing this tour.

The tour was well run and our guide was very informative. The walk in between the 2 gorges was not too strenuous for a 66 year old with knee replacements. The scenery is amazing

Informed and respected in a safe environment

Wonderful experience with knowledgeable guides sharing fabulous information in a safe environment. However I was surprised they didn't have Indigenous guides which I feel would've enhanced the experience providing authenticity and genuine knowledge of country.

Operator response

Dear Lizzie_Lou1122, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re very pleased to hear that you had a wonderful experience and felt informed, respected and safe throughout your cruise. We also appreciate your comments regarding Indigenous guides. Nitmiluk Tours is proudly 100% Jawoyn-owned, and sharing Jawoyn Country, culture and stories respectfully and authentically is extremely important to us. While not every departure is led by a Jawoyn guide, our guides receive training and guidance to ensure the information and stories shared with our guests are appropriate and respectful of Jawoyn culture and Country. We certainly understand how having a Jawoyn guide can add another special dimension to the experience, and we appreciate you raising this with us. Thank you again for visiting Nitmiluk and for sharing your thoughtful feedback. Kind regards, The Nitmiluk Tours Team
