great start to our trip!

Igor, Alex and Juju were great! Picked us up at the Cuiaba airport and took us to lunch at the nearby Aeport Brazilian Steakhouse. Buffet with waiters also serving different meats carved off skewers. From there Alex, Juju, Mandy and I headed off to Rio Claro lodge….we got there for dinner and an evening safari drive. We saw a giant anteater on the afternoon drive to Rio Claro….not a great sighting – but any sighting is a good sighting! Ultimately our plan was to spend more time at Pousada Piuval – but because that lodge was full, we could only get one night – our middle night of 3 nights in the area. I was really hoping to get a good giat anteater sighting – and Piuval is the best lodge to find them. Rio Claro lodge was a good lodge. The bird (monkey) feeders were in full force. Very busy and photgenic. The macaw platform was also in use! I did a night sky shoot of a dead tree just outside the main gate that has nesting jabirus in it. I got a couple of OK shots – it is hard with all the lodge lighting – and I didn’t feel like making the effort to drive further away to find a darker place to shoot. But, seems the night sky here is quite nice and shot worthy! Buffet food service for all meals – and plenty of good choices. The next morning we did a ‘river’ boat trip and saw giant otters. Very cool. We also had some Black Collared Hawks and king fishers fly in for baited fish. After lunch we headed for Piuval doing sightings along the way/road. We really liked Piuval lodge. We saw lots of wildlife…the staff is great – as is the property. I got a couple of somewhat “ok” anteater pictures…..would have been better if we had arranged for a private vehicle – but it is what it is (hindsight is always 20-20 after all). There is a large ‘pasture’ in fron of the lodge that you can just walk out on and explore….there is a water hole with skimmers, rhea’s, capubara, rosiette spoonbills, hawks etc etc Both lodges have great Internet service – and so does the Gaspare safari vehicle! We had Internet all the time (literally). The wifi was like we were back home with cellular service. When we went back to Rio Claro for the thrid night of our trip – we managed to get a glimpse of a tapire on the road….the final morning we did a short loop hike down to where the boats are beached….we saw a ferugenous pygmy owl – amongst some other first time birds for us…..I’d really suggest hiking around the properties! Alex and Juju were great! Highly recommend Gaspare Tours.

Perfect trip for seeing the Pantanel

We did the 6 day full Pantanel tour. We had a great time. We saw plenty of of Jaguars and other animals. I can not describe any problems we had. I would recommend this tour to anyone who enjoys animals and has younger kids. If you are just adults, I may suggest to skip the river and zip line as this was a bit of a a time killer given the limited time we had. But that is being picky (and greedy).

Operator response

Dear Simon, Thanks for your time reviewing Gasparetour Pantanal Tours! The 6D/5N Pantanal full experience is a good option to family with kids, they love the crystal blue river snorkeling and the zip line + the Jaguar Safari and general wildlife safari. Kind regards, Gasparetour Pantanal Team

Great but very expensive tour with a super guide

ALEX GOMEZ our guide was the best one you could imagine He explained everything to us partly in English and German! Our requests were also implemented spontaneously! Unfortunately, the tour is very, very expensive and therefore there is unfortunately a point deduction. In the Amazon, we paid a third and experienced something similar!

Operator response

Hallo Cornelia, Vielen Dank für Ihre positive Bewertung. Das Pantanal und der Amazonas sind wunderschöne Reiseziele und absolut lohnenswert. Mit freundlichen Grüßen, Gasparetour Pantanal Tours

Highly Recommend this Tour!

We were met at the airport by our guide, Alex and company owner Igor, and got oriented during an excellent luncheon at a Brazilian steakhouse. we were escorted by a driver and our Guide to our lodging and stopped along the way viewing wildlife. Lodging at Juival and Rio Claro was excellent . We did both vehicle based game drives and small boat viewing of birds and animals. Our guide Alex was very pleasant and knowledgeable, and made every effort to show us the animals we wanted to target. No complaints or negatives to this tour!

Best experience

The pairing of Igor the guide and JoJo the driver was amazing! Despite the lack of Japanese speakers, Igor's proficient Japanese and his wealth of knowledge allowed me to experience the depth of the Pantanal! We also met an unexpected jaguar 🐆, and we just had a great two days!

Pantanal Lite

A short introduction into the Pantanal region with a chance to see some of the wildlife of the region and appreciate the landscape. The Pousada was lovely and although only a short journey away, the guides took me out on regular trips to see the surrounding area.

Outstanding Pantanal Eco Tour – Highly Recommend

We booked the 2 Days 1 Night Pantanal Eco Tour from Cuiabá with Gasparetours and the experience was nothing short of exceptional. From the very beginning, the team’s communication was excellent and they arranged a smooth hotel pick up for us. At the start of our journey, we had the pleasure of meeting three members of their team: Igor, Alessandra (our guide), and Juju (our driver). All of them were warm, welcoming, and professional, instantly making us feel at ease. We were especially fortunate to have a private tour, which allowed us to fully appreciate the knowledge and dedication of our guide Alessandra. She is truly outstanding. Not only does she speak four languages fluently, but she also has an extraordinary depth of knowledge about the Pantanal’s flora, fauna, geology, and history. With her background in geology, she provided fascinating insights into the region’s terrain and even the ongoing gold mining that still takes place in the area. Her passion and ability to explain complex topics in an engaging way enriched every moment of our tour. The drive to the Rio Claro Lodge was comfortable and included a quick stop to pick up snacks and water. The lodge itself was wonderful with spacious, clean rooms complete with air conditioning and private bathrooms, providing a comfortable base in the middle of nature. The surrounding wildlife was remarkable; from capybaras and capuchin monkeys to caimans and vibrant hyacinth macaws, it felt like the Pantanal came alive right outside our doorstep. During our stay, we joined guided excursions with local lodge guides alongside Alessandra. While we unfortunately did not get the chance to do the night safari, we still enjoyed a fantastic nature walk where we learned so much about the environment and spotted wildlife such as a red footed tortoise and some peccaries. Back at the lodge, one of our favorite activities was going out at night with a torch for some informal spotlighting. Seeing caiman, capybaras, and amphibians in their natural nocturnal state was unforgettable (though caution is definitely advised around the water’s edge as some of those caiman are huge and impressively quick). The following morning, we set off on a boat tour along the Pantanal river, which was another highlight. The birdlife is simply extraordinary; toucans were a standout, and to our amazement, we even spotted an ocelot, which was a rare and thrilling encounter. While jaguars and other iconic species like giant river otters, anteaters, and tapirs are more commonly seen further south toward Porto Jofre, the variety of wildlife we encountered was still incredible. If you love birds, the Pantanal is truly paradise. It is worth mentioning that tourism in the Pantanal does come at a price and can be quite expensive compared to other destinations in Brazil. However, the richness of the experience, the level of expertise from guides like Alessandra, and the chance to witness such extraordinary wildlife in its natural habitat make every penny worthwhile. Alessandra deserves special recognition as she is an exceptional guide and a real asset to Gasparetours. Beyond her expertise, she is wonderfully friendly, chatty, and attentive, always going the extra mile to share not just information about the wildlife, but also about local culture, daily life, and even food. Her enthusiasm is infectious and she made our entire trip feel personal and memorable. A particular highlight was trying our hand at fishing, where we managed to catch our very first yellow bellied piranha, which was a fun and unique experience. Overall, this tour far exceeded our expectations. The Pantanal is a magical place and Gasparetours provided us with an experience we will never forget. We left feeling inspired, grateful, and already eager to return for a longer stay in hopes of spotting more of the region’s incredible wildlife, including the elusive jaguar. We cannot recommend Gasparetours and especially Alessandra highly enough. If you are considering exploring the Pantanal, this is the team to do it with.
