Our tour guide and driver will meet you in the hotel lobby, pay a visit to Tianmen Mountain. Regarded as the soul of Zhangjiajie, Tianmen Mountain is the highest mountain in Zhangjiajie. The views include graceful ancient trees, karst hillocks and long roads that are carved from the sides of the cliff. The cablecar takes approximately 30 minutes from the city center to the mountain top and is the longest one in the world. The most popular attractions on the top of mountain are Heaven Gate, Glass Skywalk, 99 Bend Road and so on. Be transferred to Furong Town in the afternoon, it takes approximately 60-70 minuted driving from Zhangjiajie to Furong Town by a private van.
Nestled in the lush mountains of Western Hunan's Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture, Furong Town (literally "Hibiscus Town") is a captivating ancient town that seems suspended in time. What makes Furong Town truly unique is its spectacular natural setting, seamlessly integrated with human habitation. The town is dramatically built on a cliffside, with rows of traditional Tujia stilted houses (Diaojiaolou) cascading down towards the You River. The most breathtaking feature is the magnificent waterfall that flows directly through the heart of the settlement, earning it the nickname "Town on the Waterfall." You will particularly enjoy the night lights of this beautiful ancient town. Under a starry sky, Furong Town at night is no longer just a historical site. It becomes a living painting, a poetic vision where the works of man and the grandeur of nature are harmoniously woven together by the magic of light. I thought Vicky was a fantastic tour guide. She was super sweet and went above and beyond to ensure we had a good time. She carefully planned our tour, and kept us aware of the general wait times and schedule for the day. She is a born and bred local, and was so warm and excited to host visitors in her home town. She provided a great cultural understanding about the ethnic minorities and local cultures of the geographic area, which was really fun to learn about, especially since most people think China is a monolith when it has a huge variety of ethnic groups. I would highly recommend her as a tour guide!

We had a fantastic experience from beginning to end. The pickup was perfectly organized, and everything ran smoothly throughout the day. Our guide spoke excellent English and shared fascinating stories and detailed explanations at every stop, making each place much more meaningful. What we appreciated the most was that we never felt rushed. We had plenty of time to explore, enjoy the scenery, and take in the atmosphere at our own pace. The guide also knew all the best photo spots, helped us take great pictures, and even showed us a few hidden gems that we would have never found on our own. On top of that, we received several excellent recommendations for other places to visit during our stay. AMAZING time! The heavens gate hike was the highlight of my China trip. Probably one of the best experiences I have had travelling, the 999 steps seems hard, especially looking at it from the bottom but is totally doable! My tour guide Cara was amazing, would highly recommend this tour to anyone, the rest of the experience on the top of the mountain was really cool, and the visit to Furong town was also awesome. I booked this tour for my birthday and Cara helped to make my day really special and memorable.
