During our last trip to tunisia we got the chance to discover the ruins of eljem and the wonderful city of Kairaouan the guide had explained us the history, the driver was absolutely amazing and the car super comfortable for a family of 4 Will definitely book again through Gassen ❤️❤️❤️
We enjoyed seeing the sights but the tour did not live up to our expectations. Our guide was not particularly well informed and didn't provide much historical information or context on the sites. He seemed more concerned about trying to get us into a carpet shop and once it was clear that we weren't interested in buying souvenirs on the tour, his effort dropped markedly. He fell asleep in the car on multiple occasions and skipped whole things that were listed on the itinerary. We didn't see the 3 doors mosque or get free time in Kairouan to explore. We weren't taken to the archeological museum at El Jem, despite having paid for tickets, and our tour ended 2 hours earlier than we were told. We honestly felt we would have been better off just paying for a private driver and googling the very limited few facts our guide actually did tell us.
Dear Michael, Thank you for reaching out and sharing your feedback regarding your recent trip. We always strive to provide a seamless experience, so I would like to address the points you raised to ensure we are completely transparent about how your itinerary unfolded. Regarding your schedule, I want to clarify that proposing a visit to the local carpet store was not a personal decision on my part, but a scheduled stop explicitly detailed in your agreed-upon itinerary. Furthermore, your claim about falling asleep is a bit surprising, as you were fully awake and actively participating at the time. As for the museum in El Jem, we skipped that portion of the tour entirely at your direct request, as you mentioned it was too hot and insisted on leaving immediately after the Colosseum. It is unfair to request a refund for a missed location when it was bypassed strictly to accommodate your own comfort and preferences. During the Colosseum visit itself, you chose to walk off independently rather than stay with us—unlike your companion, who remained by my side the entire time and enjoyed the full guided experience. Finally, regarding your accommodations in the Sousse Medina, the narrow, historic streets naturally prevent motor vehicles from driving directly to the doorstep. This is a well-known characteristic of historic medinas, and while I understand it may have been inconvenient, managing private booking details—such as vehicle accessibility—remains the guest's responsibility before the reservation. We take pride in delivering attentive, high-quality service, and we fulfilled every aspect of your tour in good faith, in accordance with your itinerary and real-time requests. Because all services were provided as agreed—or altered solely to accommodate your preferences—we are unable to issue a refund. We appreciate your understanding and wish you all the best in your future travels. Warm regards
Ghaccen was our Tour Guide and he was great. We informed, interesting, polite and a great driver arriving on time for our hotel pick up. El Jem is fabulous and Ghaccen made it even more memorable as a consequence of his wide knowledge of the time and place. We ear at a lovely restaurant just across the rode from the entrance. We had a private trip from Hammamet. Kairouan was fascinating. Wherever you go in Tunisia is incredible, but having a great guide is all important.
When traveling solo, I tend to use Viator for mainly day trips with the only set expectations of safety and accountability. So when I have an exceptional experience, I take the time to write a review. Ghassan, was an amazing tour guide. He was patient, knowledgeable, and friendly (professionally). He took me to all locations in the itinerary, plus placed me at better less popular photo locations so that I could appreciate Carthage even more once I am home. Honestly, the highlight of this day was the lamb barbecue that we stopped to have. It was so good and prepared fresh. It was the day after Ramadan ended so all families were out taking photos of families so got to meet wonderful people as well. I have a better understanding of Tunisian culture because of this tour and how well Ghassan guided throughout. Definitely highly recommended!
