サン・フランチェスコ・ダッシジ教会は、マテーラの中心部サン・フランチェスコ広場に位置する、バロック様式のカトリックの礼拝所です。
マテーラ大聖堂は、正式にはマドンナ・デッラ・ブルーナとサンテウスタキオ大聖堂として知られ、マテーラの主要なカトリックの礼拝所であり、マテーラ＝イルシーナ大司教区の母教会です。 大聖堂は、2 つのサッシを分けるチヴィタの最も高い尾根に、13 世紀にプーリアのロマネスク様式で建てられました。
美しいフレスコ画が描かれた岩の教会です。 マドンナ デッレ グラツィエ教会は、マテーラのサッソ カヴェオーソ通りにあります。 この教会はかつて聖エウスタキオに捧げられたものでした。 入り口には聖母子を描いたテラコッタの浅浮き彫りがあります。 岩の教会の内部には、元々のイコノスタスの近くに置かれた印象的なバロック様式の祭壇が特徴的です。 祭壇の後ろには、聖具室に通じるいくつかの開口部がある岩壁があり、かつてはそこに司祭館が建っていました。 天井には 2 つの小さな彫刻が施されたドームと、後陣のアーチが見えます。 右側の壁には、現在は破壊されているが磔刑像があり、その下に色あせたフレスコ画がある。 キリストの像には二人の天使が付き従っており、その足元には聖母マリアとヨハネがいます。 別の壁には、アッシジの聖フランチェスコが聖痕を受ける様子が描かれています。 代わりに、対応する壁には聖ルチアの絵が描かれています。
洞窟住居は、部分的に岩を掘削して建てられ、部分的に建築された典型的なサッシ住居です。 カーサ グロッタ デル カサルヌオーヴォでは、1958 年までそこに住んでいた家族が使用していたオリジナルの家具や日常の道具を通して、本物のサッシの家を体験できます。 これは真の民族学コレクションであり、1950 年代に人口減少が起こる前にサッシに人が住んでいた時代の日常品や作業道具を展示した小さな博物館です。 内部は、1950 年代末に古代地区が過疎化される前に建てられたオリジナルの部屋と家具が再建されたものです。
現在のセディーレ広場は 14 世紀までマッジョーレ広場と呼ばれ、主に市場などの商業活動に使用されていました。 いくつかの資料によると、1550年にサラセン司教は市政府の会議を開催するための宮殿を建設することを決定しました。 セディーレ宮殿の周囲では、市の政府機能の一部をそこで開催する目的で、いくつかの建物が建設（または改修）され、広場自体に新しい形が与えられました。 広場には、刑務所、知事の所在地、駐屯地などがありました。 1779 年にセディーレ宮殿と広場は大規模な改修工事が行われ、広場とその周囲の建物はほぼ現在の形になりました。 イタリア統一後、1944 年までセディーレ宮殿に市庁舎が置かれていました。 この建物は後にバーリ音楽院の副本部として使用され、後にマテーラのドゥニ音楽院となりました。

Our guide was excellent: competent, passionate, and made us experience the Sassi in an engaging way that we would never have appreciated on our own. She told stories, anecdotes, and took us to the most beautiful and hidden spots. 2 hours that flew by. Matera is magical, but with a guide like this, it is 10 times more so. Thank you, Brunella! Highly recommended!
We really enjoyed the tour of Matera city. Our guide, Brunella, was excellent. Spoke very good English and gave us the wonderful history of the town, including her own personal link which was an amazing insight. Was mindful of everyone in the group and made sure everyone was comfortable. Pick up was easy and clear too. Would definitely recommend!
Brunella told the story of Matera in a way that brought tears to my eyes. I am so glad that we took the tour - it was a fascinating, incredible and emotional story of what we discovered is the third oldest city in the world!!
Brunella is great, explains very well and has a lot of information because her family lived in sassi, and she lived until the 4 years until they were “expelled” so she knows the depth of the whole story and explains very well!! I would like to walk around there with her and learn from this interesting story!!!
Pisanie I usually prefer exploring places on my own, but I had a feeling that Matera hides many stories and details that are easy to miss, so I decided to join a guided tour. It turned out to be a great decision. Brunella was friendly, knowledgeable, and made the history of the city easy to follow and genuinely interesting. She pointed out many details I would never have noticed on my own and was happy to answer all our questions. I would definitely recommend a tour with Brunella to anyone visiting Matera.
