We had a great time seeing the highlights of Puerto Plata. Jahaziel, our guide did a great job meeting us as he advised in his directions. He spoke good English for our friends who were not Spanish speakers. Before the tour he reviewed the itinerary he had for us. He also was accommodating to changes, including adding some beach time, and cigar factories. We would definitely look him up on our next trip. He demonstrated professionalism and is an example of what Dominican culture has to offer.

We had a wonderful time! Jahaziel was so fun and accommodating to our family. You can tell he loves his city and wants to show the tourists both the hot tourist spots, as well as the hidden gems. You get a mix of both. We travel with three small children and one person who needed a wheelchair/cane and he made everyone comfortable. We loved touring through Puerto Plata, such a beautiful city. Mama Carmen to start was our favorite 💗 worth it just for her hospitality!

This is a very interesting and educational tour. Our tour guide was amazing and was a local who had a lot of insight and knowledge. The only complaint is when we went to a farm they charged us double for things. When we went into town, things were a lot cheaper - like 1/2 the price.

This was THE best excursion we have ever done, and it was our first with Viator. Jahaziel was an incredible tour guide and allowed us to see more than just the "tourist" part of Puerta Plata. We had coffee made by a local grandmother, visited a country store, visited a cigar factory, Umbrella Street, and the chocolate factory. I highly recommend this tour to others. He is a great guy!

For same price as cruise exertion you have a personal tour guide. They were wonderful !!! Very personal and not at all pushy …like family

Title: Truly Treats You Like Family! We had another absolutely wonderful experience with Jahaziel Tours in Puerto Plata! I’ve used him several times now, and I will definitely continue to use him whenever we’re in Puerto Plata. He truly goes above and beyond for us. There is never any rushing—he lets us enjoy each stop at our own pace and makes the day feel completely personalized. He even had drinks waiting for us in a cooler, which was such a thoughtful touch. This time we visited downtown Puerto Plata, the Amber Museum, Pink Street, Umbrella Street, and the city center where we stopped for ice cream. We also took the safari truck up to the Jesus statue. He was even thoughtful enough to stop at McDonald’s so our kids could get some fried chicken! But honestly, what makes Jahaziel so special is that he treats us like family. Every time we come back, it feels less like hiring a tour guide and more like spending the day with a friend. At this point, I think we’re officially part Dominican! 😂🇩🇴 If you’re visiting Puerto Plata, I highly recommend Jahaziel Tours. Our family had an incredible excursion touring the Puerto Plata countryside, and it was all thanks to our driver and guide, Jahaziel Mercado. From the moment we found him waiting at the taxi stand near Gate 5, he made us feel less like tourists and more like close friends or family visiting for the day. Jahaziel took us through the countryside, sharing coffee with us and giving us a genuine window into the local community’s way of life. His warmth, knowledge, and passion for his home were obvious in every stop we made — we honestly could have spent all day out there with him.

Jahaziel was an awesome guide who was friendly, flexible and accommodating throughout. Since we had extra time, he was able to extend the tour way beyond our expectations. We booked our tour based on many of the excellent ratings and the personalized tour. Jahaziel and his tour lived up to those expectations and far beyond! We highly recommend booking!

We had a wonderful tour of the DR with our guide Jahaziel, He arrived early and was so friendly. He took us to the countryside to have coffee with a local family. It was such a unique and wonderful experience, he explained so much about the city and culture while we drove. We also went to the museums and got out at different sites. Despite a lot of rain off and on, we were still able to see all of the best sites Puerta Plata is known for. We had a really great day and loved having the private tour. I highly recommend Jahaziel.
