We had a wonderful time with our guide Chris as he took us through the sites of Tallinn. Chris was on time, gave great insight and knowledge of the history and sites of Tallinn in an easy and charismatic fashion. We give him the top rating and wish we could have spent more time in Tallinn. We look forward to seeing Chris again in the near future for further exploration of this splendid city and the people. Bravo!
And thank you, Kjell, for the burly viking spirits and sharp wits you brought to this tour :) Happy to take the exploration forward whenever you're back next time, and believe me - we barely scratched the surface of the many different layers Tallinn still has to show. I also just realised that we couldn't have ended this tour in a more fitting spot, literally right under the shadow of one of the late medieval world's tallest churches, named after the Norwegian king himself :) Chris
Chris made the trip to Tallinn well worth every minute. He is pleasant, well spoken, knowledgeable and enjoys every minute of what he does — it never felt like we were with a guide doing a job, but rather, with a local friend. Highly recommend this tour and definitely with Chris.
Time is the single irretrievable resource, so hearing that a tour was worth every minute is really the best kind of feedback there is. I genuinely enjoy what I do, and I need to, or it turns into a job instead of a meaningful human connection. So I do show up to every tour the same way: like I'm about to meet an old friend I haven't seen in ages, and who I can't wait to finally show around my little corner of the world :) Chris
Our guide, Chris was absolutely outstanding. Very knowledge and extremely personable. Highly recommend Chris!
Hat tip, Don! I enjoyed your company a lot, and I'm glad I found the perfect restaurant in the Old Town for Ian's birthday :) Safe trails wherever they might take you next!
We very much enjoyed the tour (2hrs), and are super happy we decided to go ahead! We went with my immediate family (incl. 2 kids 7 & 12) and parents (70s), and this was the highlight of our visit to Tallinn, and something we'll certainly be sharing with our friends back in Ottawa/Vancouver. Our guide Chris was very knowledgeable on the history of Tallinn, and flexible with the pace, sights, and content of the tour. It felt like having a good friend giving you a personal tour of their home city! Highly recommended.
Hi Gavin, your family was such good fun, which made going off the usual route so much more effortless and worthwhile! Glad we made the tour happen in the first place and that everything ultimately came together perfectly. Safe trails for the future, and best regards to the rest of the family :) Chris
Went on a 5-hour tour with my English-speaking nephew and his four Bristish friends. Although I´m a native Estonian, I felt that a tour by a professional guide like K.J. (as I like to call him) would be much more interesting and informative. And he delivered big-time! KJ kept the attention of the lot for the whole 5 hrs, explaining not only the history, but the contemporary culture as well, jigsawed with good humor and a little bit of Estonian healthy sarcasm here and there. A true local experience! I would recommend his tour to all nationalities, including Estonians! I got so much out of it myself as well, despite being born and bred in Tallinn. So cheers. (On the photos - K.J. introducing us the set of Christopher Nolan's "Tenet". This enormous, ruined Soviet-era concert hall can be called Estonia's Machu Picchu, but is often overlooked by classic old-town tours).
Kudos, Ivo! It is the praise of the highest calibre to have a fellow Estonian walk away from my tour feeling that he learned a lot — and perhaps even more importantly, willing to admit it :) And I always love giving tours to people from Estonian diaspora, so I do appreciate the opportunity to have played my tiny part in your nephew's exploration of his roots! PS. Loving your Estonia's Machu Picchu comparison. I have a feeling I'll remember it and perhaps use it myself whenever I end up there next with South American guests :) Chris
Thank you for an awesome experience and an insightful private tour! I’ve walked these streets hundreds of times. Turns out I knew only a tiny fraction of the stories hiding behind the buildings, streets, and landmarks. A great Old Town tour for a visitor, but also super interesting for a local.
Hat tip to you, dear Kaidi! Tallinn might be small, but the history runs deep here, and it's always great to be reminded that all this spelunking for stories does unearth plenty of fascinating layers behind familiar buildings and streets to keep even locals engaged. Always happy to try to reveal fresh perspectives in our hometown full of grand and layered history that we often tend to forget in the daily rush :)
Wonderful knowledgeable local guide! Loved seeing everything in Old Town Tallin. Knew where to go for souvenirs and pastries.
Thank you, Natalie, and I'm glad our Tallinn Old Town tour truly delivered on all fronts: history, politics, souvenirs, and pastries alike :)
This afternoon we did the city tour with Chris. Most tours have fixed starting times but for this tour we could choose the starting time which was convenient as we already had a morning activity. Chris is very knowledgeable, a super friendly guy and gave us many tips too. We recommend this tour without any reservations. Great choice when in Tallinn!
Hi Jan, Thank you for the lovely enthusiastic company yesterday, and your kind recommendations for us! And that's the beauty of private tours that they allow full flexibility, whether it's the timing, pace, or wherever the conversation naturally leads. Hope you'll have another great tour today as well, and good luck with your photography, it's certainly a wonderful "addiction" in life to have :)
We had a fantastic walking tour of Tallinn with Chris. He was knowledgeable, engaging, and shared fascinating insights into the city's history and culture. He was able to answer any question we posed regarding Estonia's history and culture. The tour was both informative and enjoyable, and Chris's enthusiasm made the experience even more memorable. Plus gave us restaurant suggestions. We highly recommend this local organisation!
Glad the tour hit the mark, Danelle, and from what I understand the cafe and museum recommendations found a warm welcome too :) You certainly squeezed as much as possible out of your day trip to Tallinn, therefore counter-compliments on the enthusiasm front! And if you're ever back in the region, do spend a night or two next time so you can explore beyond the Old Town as well.
In our hours with Chris in the old town and outside Tallin we saw and learned so much we’re still thinking and talking about it days later. The tour of the old town is a perfect introduction. It means if you wander round at your leisure later you have a much greater sense of what you’re looking at. The rest of the tour gives broader historical and cultural context. The visit to the memorials is especially moving and thought-proving from a British perspective.
Thank you, Helen! Glad the stories and places lingered, and glad you could finally make the trip happen after the spring reschedule! Tallinn might be small, but history really runs deep here. What we try to do with the stories is a bit like spoken archaeology - carefully peeling back layer upon layer, revealing narratives that would otherwise go unnoticed under the settled dust of centuries past. Do come back for a few days next time, now that you know how much there is to see here :) Chris
